One of rare places in SG to get regional *Indian* Indian dishes outside of Little India, with seasonal menu in occasion or festivities. The Southern Indian options tend to be more authentic than that of the Northern ones. The Andhra veg thali was spot on, with tons of side dishes. Weirdly enough, the North Indian thali includes a few of these, particularly the green chili stir fry and rasam (!) of all places. Don't get me wrong, it's still tasty (been a few years since I had paneer tikka), but I doubt folks in North Indian states are well acquainted with these particular side dish. For the desserts, the jigarthanda (milky sarsaparilla drink) was refreshing and surprisingly not as sickly sweet as what I expected from typical Indian drinks or desserts, which is good. The price is a bit on the expensive side (but by not that much), which makes sense for restaurants these days, particularly for niche cuisines. Indoor dining space and the airy outdoor patio are both available.
View on GoogleTaste: Tandoori Chicken Briyani was decent with flavourful rice and smokey protein. Garlic naan could be improved with ghee and more garlic but the texture was great. Mango Lassi was super thick but delicious. Came with raita and curry, which are decent but could be improved further Cost: ~$21 Waiting time: 15 mins, weekday lunch Overall: 4/5. Clean and air-conditioned. Extensive menu, will be back to try their thali!
View on GoogleThe food is competitively priced compared to other North Indian restaurants in Singapore. The taste is quite good and overall satisfying. The masala tea has a strong cardamom flavour, which adds a nice touch. The mango lassi is well balanced and refreshing.
View on GoogleIt's been years since I visited Rangooli. My first visit was actually when they were still located near Ayer Rajah market, and I made sporadic visits over the years. It seemed as though they refreshed their menu recently, and we wanted something different for dinner, hence the visit. Food was generally okay. My only gripe was the extremely long menu which resulted in decision paralysis. It would be good if they could put together a set meal or tasting menu that would showcase the must eats and make it easier for customers who are new to Indian Cuisine.
View on GoogleDecent Indian restaurant with a huge menu. Just newly renovated. The parotta is the pick of the bunch. Butter curry had little chicken. Drumsticks is overcooked. Fish abit small for $12++
