They've reopened under another signboard. This used to be my favourite Bak Chor Mee. Thicker higher grade mee pok, perfectly cooked, tossed in a shoyu inspired base with a little chilli, and dressed in minced meat and lard. That was more than 10 years ago when it was ran by someone else. Over time, the noodle quality dropped (changed supplier?). Then, the pork quality. And now, the sauce. Completely different from what made them famous initially. The quality gradually slipped, ingredient by ingredient and now even the soup is tepid. You need the sour chilli just to make it palatable... What a disappointment. I have been a loyal supporter despite the business changing hands a few times. But this latest iteration is really too much. They've given up too much for this to justify the price.
View on GoogleAfter 1 year, they are back!! Long-time residents and regular lunchtime office workers would know this place serves a solid bowl of Japanese Fusion Mee Pok Soup filled with delicious ingredients (Char Siew, Meatballs, Minced Meats, Mock Abalone, Cabbage and Pork Lard). You have a choice of Miso or Shoyu soup. My personal favourite is Miso💯 The Mushroom Minced Meat Noodle is a frequent must try as well! Standards still the same, do come down and judge for yourself:)
View on GoogleAn average bowl of Bak Chor mee. Comparing with the nearby Mr Meepok, this version is a little lacking. No liver for a start, their Mee Kia is a little too soggy for my liking. Ingredients are quite generous for $4.50. The accompanying soup is pretty average.
View on GoogleHighly recommend! Our family always comes here since Covid for their tasty BCM. However, I’m not really a BCM fan. So today, though in doubt, I decided to order Mee hoon kuey - one of the newly added items. It was AMAZING! The soup is super Umami! With freshly fried ikan bilis (crisp to perfection) & added pork lard (optional), you have one of the best bowl of Mee hoon kuey in Singapore. The mee hoon kuey is not soggy and soft like the usual stores. It has a distinct texture leaning a bit more on the chewy side, creates a beautiful identity for their Mee hoon kuey! We are super happy with our late lunch today 😁 KUDOS to Chef Ah Liang for not only filling our stomach but also satisfying our soul with your tasty food!
View on GoogleOwners clean every tray before service. About $7, but portion is generous with meat, abalone, crispy lard. More local than japanese taste.
