I've now visited Danlao twice, and it's clear that the choice of topping makes all the difference. This is a solid spot for a comforting scrambled egg rice bowl, especially if you know what to order. On both my visits, the two constants were the egg and the rice. As the name suggests, their scrambled egg good—cooked just right, soft and creamy, blanketing the rice underneath. While it's good and competently made, I wouldn't call it spectacular. The rice was also consistently well-cooked, with distinct grains (粒粒分明) and not mushy at all. My first visit was a bit of a letdown. I had the Cheesy Char Siew bowl. The char siew was unfortunately on the dry side, and the "cheesy" element was simply a slice of processed cheese laid on top that hadn't fully melted. It felt like an afterthought and didn't add much to the dish. However, my second visit was a significant improvement and the reason for the 4-star rating. I ordered the Classic Luncheon Meat and added on a Chicken Cutlet. The chicken cutlet was the undeniable highlight of the meal—perfectly crispy, juicy, and flavourful. It provided a fantastic textural contrast to the soft eggs and rice. The luncheon meat was standard fare, good but not memorable. In conclusion, Danlao offers a satisfying meal, but the experience can be hit-or-miss depending on your protein choice. Based on my visits, I'd highly recommend skipping the char siew and going straight for the fried items, especially the excellent chicken cutlet.

The chicken cutlet taste sour. Might be spoilt and left in the open for too long before frying. Eaten at other outlet and it didn't have this taste. Hope no food poisoning..

New branch at Senja Hawker Centre that is still finding its ground. Had the signature chicken chop scrambled egg rice. Liked the flavour of the fluffy soft scrambled egg. Chicken chop was crispy on the outside and tender moist on the inside. Would go back to try other stuff in their menu!

Not a budget option at $6.80, but the picture speaks for itself - quite flavourful and crispy chicken. Most of the complaints seem centred around issues with the staff which I thankfully wasn’t a recipient of.
