Nice cozy clean place that serves asian delights. The chicken rice is the star of this place. Char siew has a slight porky taste but texture was good. Hokkien mee was better than decent but quite pricey at $13++; given this price, perhaps can use fresh prawns instead of frozen prawns. It's fried hokkien mee afterall, where we often get fresh prawns even from a hawker stall at half the price.

Overall bad experience with the dishes ordered. All were too salty. I ordered half a steamed chicken, fried prawn noodles , 酸菜, hainanese satays. The soya sauce for the steamed chicken was the salty type unlike the ones offered at tong Fong fatt and boon tong kee that are a tad sweeter. The chicken meat was mashy, my mum and I don't like it at all. The signature prawn noodles was bad, loaded with salty gravy (pork lard was good). Lastly, the hainanese satay were dry and tough on the outside though the taste was good. Satay sauce was tasty.

Really enjoyed my meal at Jew Kit Hainanese Chicken Rice (Bukit Timah). The chicken rice was fragrant and well-cooked, with tender chicken and flavourful rice that hit the spot. The restaurant itself is clean, bright, and fully air-conditioned, making it a very comfortable place to dine in, especially on a warm day What stood out as well was the staff — he was friendly and helpful throughout the visit

Our family has been loyal fans of Jew Kit at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre for years; it's one of our favourite chicken rice spots. I was so glad to find out they had opened a branch at The Rail Mall and decided to visit for a late lunch today (3.15pm). The good news is that the quality is absolutely there. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with lovely Peranakan-style tiles and comfortable seating—a proper restaurant setting, not a food court. I ordered the Steamed Drumstick with Rice ($8.30) and a small Thai Style Fried Beancurd ($9.00). The chicken was classic Jew Kit: incredibly smooth (with their signature collagen), succulent, moist, and tender. The rice was also perfectly cooked—fragrant, plump, and with distinct grains (粒粒分明). The chilli and (my personal must-have) the thick, dark soy sauce were all of high quality. The Thai Style Fried Beancurd was also a great side dish, with a crispy exterior, soft inside, and a refreshing, tangy Thai sauce with shredded vegetables. Now, for the reason I'm giving this a 4-star instead of a 5: the price. I fully understand that the overheads for a beautifully renovated, full-service restaurant at The Rail Mall are high. However, at $8.30 for a single plate of chicken drumstick with rice and $9.00 for a small side of tofu, the pricing feels very steep and does impact the "value for money" aspect. It's a bit of a dilemma. The food quality is 5-star, but the value is what holds it back. This is definitely a "premium" chicken rice experience, and while delicious, the high price makes it more of a treat than a regular go-to.

2 Stars: Disappointed and Overpriced - First and Last Visit to Jew Kit Hainanese Chicken Rice Visited Jew Kit Hainanese Chicken Rice on 15 Jul 2026 and unfortunately it was a complete letdown. I ordered: 1. 1 Lovely Meal @ $12.50 2. 2 Set A Local Flavours @ $7.80 each 3. 2 Lime Juice with Sour Plum @ $4.00 each Total damage for a small group meal, but the value just isn’t there. All the items are definitely over over priced! Portion size First, let’s talk about the chicken rice sets. Every single set came with a miserable small portion of rice. At $7.80 to $12.50 per set, I expected servings at least on par with what the average hawker is selling for $4-$5. Instead, it felt like paying premium mall prices for less food than a neighborhood stall. Taste The taste of the chicken rice was nothing really spectacular. The rice was okay, the chicken was fine, but nothing that stood out or justified the price. Honestly, you can get a bigger portion and better flavor from any of the local 925 Chicken Rice outlets at almost half the price. Drinks Next, don’t be fooled by what you saw on the menu when you ordered the Lime Juice with Sour Plum. The menu shows a big glass, but what you get is a small plastic cup sealed with a cover. For $4.00, that felt misleading. Overall Looking at all the servings on the table, I decided not to take any photos to promote them. All I have for you is a photo of the receipt from today, 15 Jul 2026, because that says enough. I rarely give 2 stars or below. If you check my past reviews, you’ll see I only go that low when a place really falls short of the minimum standards you’d expect from a typical local eatery. This place did. This is my first and my last visit to Jew Kit. There are too many better, more reasonably priced chicken rice options in Singapore to go back here. Rating: 2/5 Not recommended for: Value seekers, families, anyone expecting hawker-style portions
