Had my rice fix here twice. Normal / Basmati rice options available, both are amazing. Rice is soft and fluffy, served warm. Deep fried fish slice was fresh, crispy outside, soft juicy inside. Dry curry mutton (mysore mutton) was excellent. It was soft texture. The curry flavour packs a punch. It’s above average spicy, but not too spicy for people who wants to try Indian type spicy food. Papadum is aromatic type, not the commercialised salty type. I bought home some, and it’s still crispy after 3 days. Well done. Great service from the boss and crew. They were soft spoken, friendly, and kind. Even though it was dinner peak hour, with the restaurant crowded.

I stopped by Karu's Indian Banana Leaf Restaurant during Ramadan and found it to be an interesting meal. The banana leaf serving was a nice touch, and having the option of rice or briyani made it easy to choose something that suited the moment. It felt like a simple, memorable dining experience.

Compliments to Karu Bukit Timah for its delicious and yummy foods and Thank You for the Excellent Service of Mr Nathan. Mr Nathan met my family as we entered, seated us comfortably, introduce and explained the foods on display cabinet and menu. He took our orders and ensured our orders were correctly served. Our dining experience was further enhanced when Mr Nathan checked regular to ask if we enjoyed our food and if we had other needs. Dining at Karu meant delicious treat to the tummy, but complimented with the excellent service of Nathan is a extremely satisfying. We will definitely come back again to Karu Bukit Timah and highly recommend others to patronise this Karu outlet. Visited Karu again in May 2026. Was very warmly welcomed by Mr Ismail. He was attentive and prompt in his service and remembered my usual favorite fish tail curry order. Enjoyed the ambiance and friendly staff

I have a been "follower" of Karu's Indian Banana Leaf Restaurant for many years - when it was in its current location along Upper Bukit Timah Road, to when it shifted "briefly" to Dunearn Road, and to when it returned to its current location again along Upper Bukit Timah Road. To me, Karu's is not just an Indian Banana Leaf restaurant (which it does very very well), but also a North Indian restaurant as well as one serving South Indian vegetarian staples such as thosai, idli and uttappam - the latter offered here from 3pm to 10pm as "Tiffin." And my wife and I were here yesterday for that and one thing more for dinner. We ordered a Rava Thosai, an Onion Uttappam, and a Chicken (leg) Masala. We always find the Thosai and the Uttappam here to be very good and generously portioned, and the Chicken Masala here to be very good too. Service here is good - prompt and friendly. The dining ambience here is nice and in air-conditioned comfort.

Ready for an authentic Indian meal ? Come to Karu’s restaurant! Dishes and drinks were served promptly and were also delicious! The atmosphere was buzzing and it was a great experience eating a meal on a banana leaf ! We ordered crispy chicken, lamb rendang, curry sotong and fish head curry. Food was delicious, however for fish head curry- the fish was a little fishy (perhaps not so fresh?). Would 10/10 recommend to you to visit :)) My favourite is the teh tarik Wah not too sweet and yet so tasty I had to order twice !!
