Hans is one of those classic old reliable cafes, really happy to see that they’re still going strong after all these years. Based on the recent visit, while the food is still decent overall, it does feel like the quality has dipped a little over time, while prices have steadily gone up. Had the Hainanese pork chop rice and the club sandwich today, both were alright, but the flavours leaned a little on bland side and nothing really stood out, which is kinda a hard sell because the Hainanese pork chop set is now about $15+, so expected a little better. Coffee was still good and the cherry pie is still an absolute delight though. Overall experience is still alright.
View on GoogleAbsolutely horrible, especially for the price. I don’t know how you manage to mess up something as basic as pasta, but this place found a way. The fungi linguine arrived smelling sour and downright foul 😭 not exactly what you expect when you order food. The “cream” sauce was watery, yellow, and pasty. It tasted nothing like real cream or cheese, more like someone mixed powdered milk. Zero aromatics. No garlic. No effort. I’m genuinely shocked this left the kitchen. I forced down a few bites and gave up. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. This made Pasta Mania look five-star in comparison...
View on GoogleWhenever I want to drink Hainanese coffee and eat Black Forest cake, my go-to place is Han's Cafe. I have been to this cafe many times and always left satisfied. A few days ago, I recommended this place to my family and went there, only to find that the standard had dropped. The coffee is no longer thick and fragrant; it's diluted. The Black Forest cake had fewer black cherries than before. The iced lemon tea had more ice than tea and was more diluted than before. Hopefully, this was a one-off. I will go one more time to check it out.
View on GoogleOld school breakfast vibes at Han’s 🍳🐟 — simple grilled salmon set with fries and salad, comforting and familiar, just the kind of no-frills meal you grew up with. Nothing fancy, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need.
View on GoogleI was craving for banana pie and chanced upon Han’s so I decided to give their version a try. Plus, this newly renovated branch looks so inviting. Unfortunately, the $4.20 pie was served cold and fell short of expectations. The crust was dry, and the banana filling could be more aromatic. Surprisingly, my accompanying Kopi C was actually better than expected. I may return to try other cooked dishes next time.
