Hands down the best mala I've had in terms of flavour. You can really taste the difference;the wok hey style has its own blend of herbs and spices that sets it apart from other mala places. Every bite is rich, fragrant, and so addictive. While the price is a little on the higher side, I think the quality more than justifies it. Also, if you're not great with spice, do note that even the lowest spice level packs quite a kick! Thankfully, I love spicy food, so it was perfect for me. I've already been back multiple times, and this is still my go-to spot whenever I'm craving mala. Definitely a place I'd keep coming back to!
View on GoogleI was sceptical to try this stall, but wifey who is more open minded with new experiences made the final call for both of us. So we ordered chili fish and potatoes. Total bill was S$26 with 2 bowls of rice. You might think that's kind of expensive in a hawker setting. And I tend to agree too. But at least the portion was large, especially the potato which was like a small hill of spuds. So think twice when ordering and you won't end up with leftovers. The fish had a firm texture and tasted fresh, hence it was quite enjoyable. Even though it was covered with chopped chilies, it wasn't overly spicy so even I didn't break out in sweats. I think sugar was added because it had a sweet note which was most apparent when I sipped the sauce. Personally I would prefer less or no sugar at all. I don't think they add msg to the food because we didn't feel any msg induced thirst afterwards. Would we recommend this stall? Based on this experience, yes.
View on GoogleTried both the Mala hotpot and Pickled Fish Fillet at Pakar Mala, and both dishes astonished me with very nice spice blends and well-balanced flavours. Prices wise, they are comparable to many other mala hotpot stalls that I have tried, and Pakar Mala's ingredients are really fresh.
View on GoogleDishonest stall. My mum took 5 pieces of rice cake and a bunch of veggies in her order. When it was served, only got 4 pieces of rice cake and very little veggies. She eats a lot of mala on a regular basis and can tell that the served amount had definitely been tampered with. Will absolutely not recommend anyone nor buy from the stall again.
View on GoogleLove it! The food tasted very authentic and the soup was really good. Highly recommend the 3 mushroom soup base — creamy, garlicky and not too spicy, very shiok. The meal was very satisfying and filling. Just be careful when choosing the ingredients because the price can add up. Overall really enjoyed it and will come back again. 👍
