This has been a recurring issue for my family and I (we’re non–Chinese speaking) with this particular beverage/dessert stall at Food Loft, Woodlands St 31. We’ve lived in this estate for a long time, and ever since the stall brought in new foreign staff, communication has honestly been very frustrating. Basic English orders for drinks and desserts couldn’t be understood, and the staff had to call 2–3 colleagues just to help translate a simple order. What’s upsetting is that it made us feel like we were the problem, when English is the common language here. Instead, it felt like we were expected to understand Mandarin, which we don’t. On top of that, there was some unpleasant attitude shown when they couldn’t understand us or got the orders wrong, which made the experience even worse. I really hope management can look into this. We’re more than happy to be patient, but there should at least be basic effort to understand and communicate in English, especially when serving customers.
View on GoogleThe Western food stall here is excellent. Their Western-style fried rice is served hot and offers a well-balanced taste. As for the chicken chop, it’s the sauce that stands out; it boasts a more concentrated mushroom flavor compared to other stalls I’ve tried. This place is highly recommended. I was unable to locate the exact profile for this Western stall, so I’ve shared my review here.
View on GoogleBak Chor Mee. $4 portion. Got lots of ingredients. Liver cook to perfection. Pork very tender and nice. Noodles cook to perfection. Chewy. Can try if you are in the area.
View on GoogleA normal HDB coffeeshop selling local food. There’s a Chinese vegetarian stall that sells nice food with vegan options.
View on GoogleThis is the worst coffeeshop I ever come with at Marsiling. The Chinese accent woman selling the drinks are damn attitude problem. It is not one, but 2 staffs are like that. It's not surprise why this coffeeshop biz not as good as the surrounding S11 coffeeshop. Please do not patronise the coffeeshop, it's at your own risk if you want to give it a try.
