Came here for teppanyaki during lunch time. Thankfully got seats, it isn’t too crowded for a weekend lunch though. Menu got choice of chix, pork and cow meat. Also got seafoods like salmon, cod, oysters etc. Generally each set meal is about $20++. Our chef that day had to single-handedly cook for everyday on the table siol cause one of the stove was down. I think food standards are alright la. Wouldn’t say it’s fantastic but acceptable. The garlic fried rice was v good though. Every grain was garlicky. Total bill for 6 adults 1 kid is $234. Bill could be lower cause we ordered like a bawler. Nice they serve us some Yuzu cooler shots at the end of the meal as well.

Visited Yaki Yaki Bo at Next Shopping Mall again for a birthday dinner. We have actually visited this restaurant a number of times before and always enjoyed the experience, which made this visit even more disappointing. The food presentation still looked attractive and well prepared, but the overall taste was unfortunately below the standard we previously experienced here. Most of the dishes, especially the teppanyaki items, were overly salty, which completely overpowered the natural flavors of the ingredients. While the meat looked good and was cooked reasonably well, the seasoning made the meal difficult to properly enjoy. Honestly, even some teppanyaki stalls in food courts are currently serving food with better flavor balance and overall taste quality. The dining environment also needs improvement. The seating area felt far too warm, and the ventilation around the teppanyaki section was insufficient, making the entire dining experience uncomfortable after some time. On top of that, the spotlights above the tables were excessively bright and added further discomfort. It was unfortunate because this place used to be one of our preferred choices, and what should have been an enjoyable birthday dinner turned into quite an unpleasant experience this time around.

For an extended period, I have not had the opportunity to dine at a Japanese fusion teppanyaki establishment that fully met my expectations. The overall experience was quite satisfactory, with the food being delectable, flavorful, and satisfying. However, there were a few areas that could be improved. The tenderloin steak and sirloin steak were somewhat tough, and despite being ordered medium rare, they also had a similar consistency. These inconsistencies could be addressed to enhance the overall dining experience. Apart from these minor shortcomings, the cooking method and accompanying soy garlic sauce were excellent and significantly contributed to the flavor of the dishes. The teppanyaki stir-fried beansprouts and mixed mushrooms were particularly tasty and flavorful. Overall, it was a very satisfying lunch.

3.5/5 Not sure why my old review disappeared, so I’m reposting this from my visit late last year. Standards seem to have dropped since my earlier visits. There was less care in the teppan grilling, with the prawns and scallops lacking the Maillard reaction and the depth of flavour they used to have. The fish and mushrooms were alright, but the overall meal just didn’t taste as good as before. It’s still a decent and an affordable teppanyaki restaurant, but the declining standards are disappointing. I think the falling quality needs to be seriously looked at by the management.

Have supported Yaki Yaki Bo since 2018 and have always appreciated its value for money and great flavours. Over the years, especially after the pandemic, portion sizes have shrunk significantly, and quality has dipped, even though prices maintained. To compensate, the restaurant includes a wide variety of additional items to maintain its value-for-money appeal. Personally, I would prefer if the ice cream, sorbet, and assorted extras were removed and provided more generous main portions. Ventilation remains good despite the restaurant’s age. There is only a slight lingering oil smell, even when seated at the teppanyaki counter. The chefs are experienced, doing the best they can with the quality of ingredients provided. If only I could go back to peak Yaki Yaki Bo back in 2019, I would happily eat here every night. For now, it’s a place I will visit occasionally, and only when there’s no queue.
