I recently visited Lao Huo Tang at Seletar Mall with my family for lunch, and while the experience was generally okay, there were a few aspects that I felt could be improved. The staff were friendly and attentive, which made the dining experience pleasant. However, it could be due to the restaurant being empty at the time we were there. There were more staff than there were customers. The menu offers a variety of traditional Chinese soups, but I felt that the soup I ordered was not as flavorful as I remembered it to be when I had it previously. Also, the sequence of when our orders were served was not great. The soup and rice were served first. We were pretty much done with everything we ordered and only then was the egg with tomato dish served. The portion sizes were decent, but the overall value for the price wasn’t as great as I had hoped. It’s a good but pricier option for a casual meal.
View on GoogleCalled and managed to get a private room (open door) table of 10pax. Their food are mostly tasty. I personally recommend Sweet & Sour Pork, Handmade Crispy Tofu and Salted Crispy Chicken Cutlet. We are sided inside so need to go out of room to get their attention, else service is great. This is a family friendly and value for money Restaurant. Recommended
View on GoogleThey were understaffed when we were there. The drinks only came after repeated reminders and we were told they didn’t have warm barley, for example, but the drink arrived just barley with ice cubes… The food was not bad on the whole, but the fish was very fishy. Did not try their famous soups.
View on GoogleCame for specialty soup after catching a show at the cinema. Lotus root soup is our all time favorite from this place, and added a spinach-egg vege dish. Then also ordered the Xing Zhou bee hoon as a XO fried rice. These mains are still pretty good to the taste
View on GoogleIf u are a soup person, this is right up your alley. Ordered the 2 person set and it tasted so fantastic! Not say super cheap (~$50+), but very worth it nonetheless. The flavours are so intense my soul is full. Can easily understand why the place is packed full during peak hours. Most customer base is families and parents - ambience brightly lit and the place smells nice, service is good (can add soup), and big space for customers
