Donkey and I visited Shiok Hokkien Mee for dinner after travelling from Punggol to try it, having seen its 4.7 Google rating. We reached the stall around 19:45 and found the coffee shop quiet on arrival. The stall is vibrant and neat, with three young staff members who were friendly and helpful. We ordered one small and one medium portion of Hokkien Mee. When we asked for pork lard, it was ready within a minute. The two portions arrived quickly. While the sizes were supposed to differ, they looked very similar. The small had three prawns and the medium had two more. The dish had a noticeable wok hei smell and we could taste wok hei, but the gravy was thick, too thick for our liking. The taste was dominated by an overwhelming wok hei flavour rather than the balanced taste we expected. We suspect the Hokkien Mee was not cooked fresh to order, as it was served immediately after ordering and lacked the fresh flavour we had hoped for. The stall’s presentation is good, but the dish did not meet our expectations. Food 3/5 Service 4/5 Atmosphere 3/5
View on GoogleFinally a good plate of HKM near Sengkang. The plate is filled with wet noodles, generous amount of sambal balacan chilli and portion of pork lark. Will know where now to satisfy my HKM craving.
View on GoogleBeen to Shiok Hokkien Mee Bangkok a few times already, and it’s one of those places I keep coming back to. The Hokkien mee is consistently good, with a nice wok hei and a rich, savoury prawn flavour. Noodles are well cooked, not too wet, and the chilli really lifts the whole dish. What stood out for me is the staff. They’re friendly and approachable, which makes the whole experience more comfortable, especially as a returning customer. Overall, a reliable spot for a satisfying plate of Hokkien mee. Definitely one I’ll continue to revisit.
View on GoogleExpecting a nice Hokkien mee when I saw all the good rating. The noodle texture was ok but there’s no nice fragrant for prawn noodle. Kinda disappoint. Order $10 but only 5 medium prawns. Anyway, there’s free egg when you give a review. So many that’s why so many reviews? Not sure
