The newly renovated space brings a fresh vibe, with several new stalls adding variety to the dining experience. Overall, the upgrade is noticeable and gives the area a more modern feel. Hygiene used to be questionable before they closed for the most renovation. However, there are some safety concerns that should be addressed. The protruding legs of the chairs pose a tripping hazard—an elderly patron recently tripped and fell, resulting in a cut and visible bleeding. She had to be sent to the clinic next door, and her eye remained badly bruised for several days. Greater attention to seating layout and safety would be appreciated. I also tried the new stall, Claypot King. The braised chap chye had an acceptable taste, but the portion size was inconsistent. On some days it was about three-quarters full, while on another visit it was barely half a bowl. Consistency in serving size would improve the overall experience.
View on GoogleOn 17/3/26 Tuesday at 12.08pm, I went to Blk 275D Compassvale Link #01-01 Stall 16 Mixed Econ Rice to have my lunch. This is not the first time to have my lunch there as I live nearby. Or I will go to eat something healthy. I will always eat 2 vegetables and 1 fish. So usually I will ask for the price of the fish first before paying from whoever staff who attended to me. Today the cooked white promfret fish they charged me more compared to the last time I bought was $6. But this time was $7. Today the staff who served me was a lady. She covered her hair with a black cloth. Everytime before I buy the fish, I will choose the vegetables first. So I pointed to her the broccoli. So she used a tong and grabbed the vegetables for me. Upon seeing that she was so stingy after she put the vegetables already and took one piece away, I was stunned and asked her," Why so little?" She immediately rangged back to me, " How much you want?" I said so little the vegetables.." But she also ignored me. After that one male staff took over her as the queue was quite long during lunch time. So I pointed to buy another spinach vegetables. The guy grabbed for me. But pretty more abit this time as he served me. After that I asked the male staff how much is the promfret fish as I pointed to him. He said $6. But the lady immediately interpreted his words and said $7. So I asked the man again. He then said $7. The lady staff followed and said $7! Then I said," Last time I bought was $6 why this time $7?" He kept quiet. After that, he just gave the food and I told them the last time I bought was $6. In the end I paid for it and ate the food with regret! I should have not pay it and eat it! Ate them with regret and anger! Everytime being a loyal customer bought from them quite a number of times! And they charged me one dollar more. They anyhow charged! Don't know who the lady is the boss?? Can boss do this type of overcharged method to their customers? Revenged?? Just because of I told her the vegetables so little?? I tell myself after today, I won't be buying food from them any more ! I am writing in to tell everyone that this stall has this type of unreasonable staff and employees and should be careful of her if not she will charge expensive food from us. And leave the company a bad reputation. As she is charging more compared to other stalls. Which I bought cheaper before from Kimly Mixed Vegetables Rice at Blk 684 Hougang Ave 4. Is she worth to work for the company in the long run?? After eating, I only feel half full only, that I need to buy some more food to eat. That lady indeed had a bad attitude towards customers and should be sacked! And the food is not Economical at all! Everyone better avoid!
View on GoogleThe overall food variety has improved 😊, along with the overall cleanliness 👍. Also added a variety of new options 😋😍 after the full renovation work completed in May of 2026.
View on GoogleWriting this review specifically for the mixed veg rice stall. Suggest to avoid unless you enjoy getting ripped off. Expensive and non-transparent pricing for a supposed economic rice stall within a HDB cluster. Just look at the other 1-star reviews for the same stall (bless these patrons because their experience seemed much worse). 1st try $6.00 for 1 veg, 1 meat (not fish, I asked) and 1 egg (no meat). Based on the prices listed on their signboard, my meal should have been: - $4.30 ($3.30 for 1 veg 1 meat + $1.00 ala carte egg) or - $4.80 (1 veg 2 meat if you consider egg as meat) Q: $6.00 - $0.30 (takeaway) = $5.70. Where did the additional $0.90 to $1.40 come from? Doesn't add up even if I include ala carte rice for $0.80. 2nd try one month later $6.30 for 1 veg, 1 meat and 1 tofu. This time, I looked at the price breakdown on the POS and it showed: $5.00 Ala Carte + $1.00 Ala Carte (tofu?) + $0.30 Extra Rice (takeaway?) Q: Even if I deduct $0.80 for rice from $5.00 ala carte, how is 1 veg 1 meat $4.20? Shouldn't it be $3.30 as shown on the signboard? Or did the cashier randomly key in items so that it adds up to the $6.30 figure that his colleague marked on the styrofoam box? Both maths fail? I maths fail? For $6, I can have a much better meal or experience elsewhere.
