I've been in the mood for mala lately and finally went to Gong Yuan Malatang at Waterway Point, and it was the right choice. The ingredients seemed fresh and there were plenty of choices to create a personalised meal. Everything was nicely presented and readily available for a superb experience. I opted for the classic malatang soup, and it was very tasty with the right amount of spices. It wasn't oily like many other mala places I have been to, so the taste was appreciated. From vegetables to meat, everything was cooked properly, which was fantastic. I found the staff to be very friendly and efficient despite being very busy. My order was prepared in no time and everything was properly served. The dining area was also neat and clean. In summary, it was a unique experience for me. Good meal, fresh products, reasonable prices and friendly service is always the right approach. I will definitely visit this restaurant once again in the near future.

The standards of the person cooking need to improve. I saw him scrape all the black bits of the pot into the bowl when he poured the food in. There were so much black bits like this in my bowl of soup and it’s for a child. We had to wait very long for the food - there was only one person cooking and packing the food for delivery orders. Very inefficient work flow. I’m not returning.

the wait was so long not only to get a seat but to also get our food. Sure we were like 10 queue numbers away but u genuinely do not need 1hr+ to cook 10 bowls, step it up guys u might be understaffed or just really slow 😭🙏 plus food was so mid, it was just a waste of my time. I swear i could go to the hawker centre, find a table, order and receive my food in half the time i spent to just queue for this mediocre malatang. not only that, our egg bomb that was supposed to be delivered to the table did not arrive until our food was finished. In fact, we had to go up to the counter to ask for it and it was already ready, just left in the kitchen. they wldve probably forgot to serve it to us if we didnt ask. i genuinely dont know why anyone would choose to eat here. Please step up ur service and food. Never eating here again! 🥰

Had a catch-up with my ex-classmate during my visit to Singapore and decided to try Gong Yuan Ma La Tang at Waterway Point. The food was average, pretty much on standard with what you’d expect from a typical mala tang outlet — nothing particularly impressive, but acceptable for a casual meal. However, the service needs major improvement. The dining area was understandably cramped, but despite my queue being cleared, no staff came to guide or seat us, leaving us waiting awkwardly without clear instructions.

Gong Yuan Ma La Tang is a restaurant based around Ma La Tang, and I never tried Ma La Tang before so this was a first experience. I decided to get the tomato soup base and pick ingredients that I just liked along with a pack of noodles. The food was actually really nice, the tomato soup was a bit salty but it was slurpy. Best ingredient for me would be the Bean Curd Skin with how slurpy they were. The one problem would be that the prices are quite high for the food since it was around $11 for the minimum 300g of food (I got around 300g) so you’ll be paying more then you would like. Overall, pretty nice place to try interesting food.
