This was newly opened so I had a try. It looks like a typical pork katsu don restaurant. They claimed that it is one of the world's healthiest pork, because the pigs seem to be fed with acorn. It took a while to be seated, as it is covid period and they had to alternate the seating arrangements. Once you get seated, you use a marker to tick what you want and go over to the counter to order. We ordered the top first and second recommended dishes. The top dish is quite nice. Pork is soft and good for those with no teeth (quoted by someone). The top second dish however, is a tad disappointing. I like the process of grinding the sesame seeds and then pouring the sauce in. Gives the Japan vibes. The sauce when mixed with the grinded sesame tasted quite nice. Recommend to squeeze the lemon on your katsu first. The lettuce with the thousand island sauce is also good and there is sufficient dressing. Rice is a bit wet, but still acceptable. Miso soup had a piece of shabu pork and it is average. Then comes the katsu meat. With the sauce it tastes good. The outer crisp is good as well. But the meat tasted a bit hard. Feels like it wasn't defrosted properly. If it was softer, it might have been very good overall. Overall pricey restaurant, and I don't think it's worth the price for top second dish. But for the top dish I might pay. There is no service charge charged, only gst. Might come again for the top dish. Still hoping it is lower priced though.
View on GoogleStumbled upon this place at Hougang 1 and was looking for a quick lunch. The food does taste freshly made and I can them pounding the meat behind the counter. Taste factor is ok but it’s quite dry. Self order at the counter and they will serve it to you then done. Be prepared for a long wait.
View on GoogleGreat food, warm service. Best part is that we can order food from their sister restaurant, Tun Xiang, next door. Once of the best siok yoke I've ever eaten. At this price point, maybe the best. I love the secreto cut don, so can have best of both worlds when I go to this outlet.
View on GoogleThe pork is seriously bland. Not marinated at all. And the rice taste of plastic. Not sure if it was contained in a plastic container while it’s still hot. The blandness is so bad that I had to add the sauce (which is available at supermarkets, no?) . For $15+ (with service charge and GST), this is not worth it and worse off than home cooked. Maybe the katsu is better but I’m not sure if I’ll be coming back to confirm that.
View on GoogleFirst time having lunch at Gochi-So and was surprised by the quality of pork selection here. The meat was really juicy, accompanied with the salad to balance your palate. Overall service was pretty good. Just that the spotlight was directly shining at our table thus was really hot while eating.
