Tried this Peranakan restaurant in Kovan Heartland Mall just beside the wet market. The place was spacious and simple with touches of Peranakan decor around the walls. The staff were accommodating and attentive throughout our visit. Once seated, we were promptly served water and given the menu. We decided to try their weekday Peranakan set, which comes with one main, two sides, rice and dessert. For my main, I chose the Beef Rendang, paired with Fried Ngo Hiang and Tahu Goreng as my sides. I also went with Nasi Puteh and ended the meal with Chendol for dessert. We also ordered the Ayam Goreng Rempah Noodles which came generously topped with ingredients. Overall, the dishes were flavourful and satisfying. The Beef Rendang was rich and aromatic while the sides complemented the meal nicely. The only slight letdown was the Nasi Puteh which was still a little undercooked. Aside from that, service was quick and efficient. Prices were reasonable too especially for the weekday Peranakan set. Overall, we had an enjoyable dining experience and would definitely return again.
View on GoogleI had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Ivins Peranakan Restaurant! If you’re craving comforting, homely Peranakan food, this place really delivers. The Buah Keluak Chicken was the star of the meal — rich, earthy and deeply flavourful. The gravy was thick and addictive, perfect to soak up with rice until the plate almost shine clean. The Nonya Curry Fish Head was another highlight. Generous portion and packed with vegetables, the curry was fragrant, creamy and perfectly balanced — spicy enough to excite but still very comforting. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and cooked with care. We also ordered the Nonya Chap Chye, and wow — super hearty and full of ingredients. The vegetables were braised beautifully, soaking up the savoury flavours and giving that classic nostalgic “home-cooked” feel. Overall, great portions, authentic taste and very satisfying meal. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to whenever I need a Peranakan food fix. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
View on GoogleFriends nearby recommended me to visit this Peranakan restaurant with simple decor. Food is above average and contents Nyonya taste. Try their chicken rendang and two desserts. Bubuh Zaza v good. Cendol is below average as only contents red beans and Cendol. Gula Melaka not perfect.
View on GoogleWe were recommended Ivin Peranakan Food by a friend and decided to try it while we were at Heartland Mall. Overall, it was a really satisfying meal. The service was very good, and we liked that each table was served a bottle of water, which was a nice and thoughtful touch. We had the nasi kuning 🍚which was fragrant and aromatic with coconut. It paired beautifully with the ikan masak assam pedas 🐟 and sayur lodeh, to the point where we couldn’t stop eating. The assam fish had a spicy and tangy flavour that really stimulated the taste buds, making it very 开胃. The sayur lodeh was light and comforting, with mixed vegetables in a coconut stew that wasn’t too rich, so it didn’t feel jelak even after a full meal. We also tried the Furong egg 🥚 and a side of achar. The Furong egg was normal, while the achar added a nice tang to the meal. The only letdown was the Nyonya stuffed beancurd, as the tofu was a bit tough and not crispy as expected. Despite that, the food overall felt authentic and comforting. I’d definitely come back again, especially to try their buah keluak next time.
View on GoogleIvins Peranakan Restaurant has been around for well over a decade at the 3rd floor of Kovan Heartland Mall. It does get fairly busy during peak hours, but thankfully it’s still quite easy to get a table most of the time with the help of their friendly staffs. I finally had the chance to try their food today, and it instantly brought me back to my early childhood memories of my two grandmothers’ Peranakan cooking. Warm, comforting, and full of baba nonya soul with that comforting lemak taste in my mouth... The Beef Rendang and Honey Pork were absolutely delicious and hit the spot immediately, especially when paired with the coconut rice and fried egg that I added on. The Babi Pongteh was another childhood favourite of mine as well. Unfortunately, I didn’t see the Ayam Buah Keluak today while making my order, but that just gives me another reason to come back again next time to try that and the chendol! Super convenient location right on top of the Kovan Heartland Mall. It would be a nice touch if the restaurant had more photos and props to showcase and explain Peranakan heritage, that would really help elevate the dining experience while enjoying the food.
