Overall a nice place for hot soup during the cooler season. The set is quite worth it and economical. Much more than one can finish. The pork rib is well cooked but not as tender as I would like it be. I supposed the more expensive set with the longer rib might be better. The soup is good where the pepper taste is just right. We went a little later than usual dinner time. This is deliberate. Our experience here is that the soup is thicker and richer at that time, which we love. The fried fritters is best eaten soaked with the soup. Heavenly. 😍🥰😘😋 We also had the spinach cooked with three eggs. This place serves one of the best spinach with three eggs we had eaten. As for service, almost all the staff are older folks. This is a phenomenon I expect and respect. So, I must confess that I knowingly expect them to be slower and forgetful,🤪😂. However, it is not the case. In the short half an hour there, the auntie waitress refilled our soup three times. They figured out that we were sharing the set and she took the initiative to bring an extra empty bowl without us even asking! 💪🏻👍🏻👏🏻 Best part, she even brought an extra small bowl of soup for us. Again without us asking! This set of waitress deserves their bonus this year! 🤪😂 The restaurant was very crowded last night and they had a long queue waiting outside. So we are surprised by this standard of service. So old is really gold! Go for it. We went between 7-8 pm. Ideal time to dine here. 💖
View on GoogleNot crowded but service is slow. Dessert Dou hua was served first. Dou hua is good, very smooth texture. Waited for 10-15 mins only served one bowl bak kut teh. Staff said meat not ready, need wait another 15mins. You Tiao served cold and soft. Staff said normally is soft as customer dipping in soup anyway. Took back the You tiao gave us freshly fried ones which was good. Pork ribs meat were too tough. Soup is peppery type, taste ok. Staffs trying their best to please but somehow this restaurant needs a good manager to run it. Saw many bad reviews but no reply from boss or management. I don’t think they care about quality and customer service.
View on GoogleNot really fancy peppery type of bkt. Once awhile can go & eat. Got free refill for the bkt soup which I requested once. Somemore been to the original outlet at many years ago, find it not bad for its especially raining weather. And this bkt eatery always serving yummy food. Been to other outlets as well like at PLQ & ARC. First time had soya beancurd for my bkt at this outlet 😋
View on GoogleFood taste has been consistent throughout these years. The only difference that I liked about old street vs other bkt is the freshly made you tiao that they made on the spot. Today the 2 ordered you tiao is cold and unpleasant. I have feedback on this experience and they didn't change but added 1 freshly made you tiao for me as a service recovery gesture which I think is still ok. I didn't insist on this as the service crew mentioned that it is not possible to freshly make for every customer. I think the standards in paya lebar road when they first appeared emphasises on this as this was non negotiable. Times have changed, prices have went up and service has not increased on par with the increased price hence the 4 star.
View on GoogleThe food is Not as good as before especially the seafood porridge. Prawn texture is hard and has a taste of a fishy smell. The ingredients are not fresh. The large Pork rib Soup ordered not as hot or was not served piping hot. The Pork intestine texture is soft and not chewy type.
