This morning around lunchtime, I had a lovely meal with my kids at an old hawker centre in Ang Mo Kio. These traditional markets offer great value — affordable prices, and food full of that nostalgic taste that always reminds me of the good old days. (Some of the stall had changed.) The duck rice is new to me, but taste nice 👍The 猪脚 is always the best with long queue 🥲 Fried carrot cake no regret eating it 👍 Even the sugar cane juice is excellent here: fresh, pure, naturally sweet, not diluted or watery like some other places. It’s just the simple, authentic flavours that make every visit so memorable 🥤🍚”**

Can find a place within the wet market and tailor shops where you can get all sorts of traditional snacks and CNY muchies! Tasted fresh and crunchy… About $10/500g for Shrimp Spring Rolls, $9/500g for peanut puff crispies… $12 for fish skin, and they have a large variety from cookies, Kuih Bangkit, Kuih bahuluh, cashews, fried crispy samosa bits, pork floss fried spring rolls, sweet nougats, pumpkin seeds, Kuih kaput with peanut butter and almond flakes, fried fish ball crackers, sweet and spicy crackers, black sesame nougats etc…. Hidden gem! Open daily 6am-3pm… Good place to satisfy your snacking cravings as you can pick and choose portion….

Plenty of good food choices here, and I absolutely love the vibes of this place. The most prominent stall, without a doubt, is Eng Kee Bak Kut Teh, which always draws a long queue. I ordered the bak kut teh soup and stewed vegetables—both were hearty and satisfying. I skipped the pig trotter this time, even though I’ve heard great things about it… maybe next round! Each bowl of BKT and the pig trotter are fixed at $8 and only 1 size. No self service of chilli. It cost 50 cents for extra. Another gem worth mentioning is 月香, the stall that sells carrot cake and others traditional kueh. Strangely I couldn't find this stall in this hawker centre directory. One unique dish I stumbled upon—thanks to some friendly old-timers—was their sweet potato and bean sprout stir-fried with dried shrimp (hei bi). It had that smoky, savoury richness similar to char kway teow. Very flavourful with a generous amount of dried shrimp, though admittedly quite oily—so maybe not the healthiest choice, but definitely worth trying if you enjoy bold, rich flavours. A plate costs $6. Overall, it’s a food spot that’s full of character and great finds. Can’t wait to return and explore more!

A long-established hawker centre dating back to the late 1970s, this place has retained much of its old-school charm. A few of the original hawkers are still around, serving up familiar tastes from decades past. Like most markets & food centres in the heartland, it’s liveliest in the morning, when the breakfast crowd fills the space & most stalls are in full swing. By late afternoon, many begin to close - but a handful remain open into the evening, so it’s still possible to enjoy a hearty dinner here.
