My son wanted to support a young entrepreneur in his culinary career so he sent me this link for one day to try out eating from this stall. That one day is today. Had early dinner and there were many available seats. Jonas, the founder, is friendly and welcoming. We ordered the Ayam Berempah set and the Curry Chicken set. Each of the drumsticks was L size. Berempah chicken was well-marinated on the entire surface with the taste of lemongrass, blue ginger, cumin, tumeric and garlic all infused into the battered-crisp skin. You cld hear the crunch when the cutlery is sunk into its juicy meat! (Watch the video); the curry is not the lemak kind but it is the malayan spice-kind. Again, the chicken meat is tender. (I think this stall’s Berempah chicken is better than what I tried at Beauty World which the meat was dry and difficult to swallow.) Both of the sets we ordered today have sides of ikan bilis and peanuts, fresh-cut cucumber slices and a heap of power sambal chili — the type found in the sambal telur recipe. It is not sweet but savoury with caramelised onions, tomatoes and red hot chilis blended into a textured paste. The rice tastes lemak but it is not basmati and grains not individually separated easily. Soft but not overly clumpy. I hope he would avoid adding any msg since the spices and chili are flavourful enough as I felt a bit thirsty 30 mins after the meal. If you like a quiet casual place for dinner, this wld be ideal. After dinner, you could walk around the estate to get your fruits and breads/cakes and home miscellaneous items from the neighbourhood stores.

Found this on Google for nasi lemak near Bishan. Drove here and I thought they were closed cos the lights were not on. Turned out they were cooking for a big catering event and not taking over the counter orders. But the Kampung boy was so nice that he agreed to do my one pack and the 3 additional packs I added on. All with a smile. The chilli was really yummy for the ayam berempah. Rice was fragrant and chicken was tender

Very shiok. The curry got nice spicy kick, not too jelak. Rice also not oily, quite on point. Came here 2 days straight already. Pic is curry ayam, but I also tried the berempah set - wah damn solid. Only downside is the waiting time a bit long in a warm Coffeeshop. Honestly he deserve better place. If this was sold in mall, will be popular too. Will be back to try their spag

Tried the Berempah Set and Curry Ayam Set at two different occasions. I find the chicken meat lacked natural flavor and tended to be a bit dry. The rice was not cooked in coconut which I found it weird that their nasi lemak did not have the coconut fragrance. There were also lumps of rice which were dry and not properly cooked. I have given my feedback to the chef on the shortcomings. Nevertheless, kudos to the young hawkers for venturing into the tough and competitive food sector.

❤️ Food sharing IG @ jkgourmets 😋 美食分享尽在 IG @ jkgourmets Malaysian style Nasi Lemak was different from the local, the fried chicken was marinated with great fresh blended spices and fried with spices attached on it when served. Not easy to find such Malaysian style Nasi Lemak in Singapore. Today was a lucky day, met this interesting stall named Kampong Boys Malaysian Style Nasi Lemak. It really managed by a young man, surprisingly he put his great heart when preparing and cooking the Nasi Lemak. Reached the stall around 1030am, fried chicken not yet ready, I have to wait 15min for him to fry and prepare the set meals. 2 sets of Nasi Lemak Fried Chicken Berempah, another one in curry chicken set for parent. Honestly, the Fried Chicken Berempah was fresh with great spices. Slightly dry on the meat but crispy on skin and delicious spices coated on it. The whole chicken leg was quite large, definitely satisfying. The rice was in long grain Basmati rice, fluffy and light, coconut taste not that great. Slightly lack of coconut fragrance but the goodness is easy to consume with fried chicken. Their chilli was with great flavours, lots of onions with touch of tangy taste, spicy level was very well balance, not too spicy yet with slight sweetness. Fried peanuts and anchovies was fresh too, can tell the young chef was pouring great heart on it. Not sure about how the curry chicken taste like but should be good, b'cos our parent finish it. 😅 Overall, this unique Malaysian style Nasi Lemak was rarely find in Singapore, price slightly high on neighborhood coffeeshop hawkers standard, but definitely worthy as compared to restaurants and some eatery. I do recommend all to try if you like Nasi Lemak in different style. Try it if you pass by.
