Definitely one of the most if not the most underrated hawker center of Singapore. Located in rural backwater of ang mo kio there are no stall with bid gourmand award here but many local will agree that there are way better stall here with endless queue. Here are my top 8 picks! The big 3 are undoubtedly 1) De Ji Cooked Food 2) Shu Heng Bi Tai Mak 3) Seletar Sheng Mian and Mian Fen Guo The top 2 is really up to personal preference, the sweet umami option is de ji while people who prefer the savory and spicy option will prefer Shu Heng Bi Tai Mak. For de ji i prefer their dry version although most dinner orders the soup version. Seletar Sheng Mian also has long queue but personally I prefer the tpy' branch. 4) Marsiling Teochew Fish Soup Is in a separate building but still consider the same hawker centre arguably has a longer queue. Thick cut of fish and definitely get the egg frost. 5) Rulai vegetarian Along the area of Marsiling this is the most popular vegetarian store out of the many vegetarian stores here. 6) Shah's cafe Is the only halal options here with a 4+ ⭐ review. Parta and briyani are the commendations. For national dish 7) Chye Kee Hainanese Chicken Rice is surprisingly not on google map until i added them and they are the option with the queue. 8) Foo Hing Lor Mee & Laksa Is a newly rebranded stall formerly selling fishball noodle. Much improvement lor mee and laksa are always a local favorite! Do you agree with thoses picks? If not what are your pick from Kebun Baru?

📍De Ji Cooked Food 德记熟食 @ 226H Ang Mo Kio Street 22, Singapore 568226 this stall is located in Kebun Baru Food Centre! I usually reach ard 12pm & the queue is ~30 mins ish, so I’d recommend cmg earlier as the sheng mian sell out quickly & the noodle is honestly one of the highlight 🤭⭐️ the broth tastes v homely— not too salty w a distinct natural sweetness from the pork! there’s another popular sheng mian stall in the same food centre called Seletar Sheng Mian!! tried it once & I have to say that I still prefer the one here! the seletar one uses prawns in their broth, so the prawn flavour is much stronger, whereas this one feels more comforting & balanced imo!! that said, if u’re more into a seafood based broth, the Seletar one might be for u— ingredients wise spr worth too (for ~$5 u get 2 big prawns) If u’ve tried both, do lmk which one u prefer!! the 生面noodles…spr qq, alm like the texture of ramen! ingredients wise p generous too— sliced pork, liver, minced pork! & the thick broth coats the noodles rly well 🤌🏼✨ overall, spr satisfying bowl of sheng mian that I’d happily q anytime— alr been back 3 times within a month 🤤🍜

Whenever we are here we are here for the bee tai mak. The JB bee tai mak no less. $4 a bowl for a satisfactory brekkie the taste is none other I have tasted in SG. Crunchy solefish dried shrimps minced and the starchy gravy + the humble bee tai mak. Absolutely delicious and soul comforting. Friendly guy boss has great memory he remembered my order from a wk ago. Avid angler during his day off do chat with him and the couple I'm sure they will appreciate the occasional chitchat (I won't tell you which stall cos it's always so crowded as it is, but u won't miss it) :)
