I only learned about the young chef’s inspiring story when I visited — as featured in the newspapers. It’s never easy for someone with special needs to master a skill like cooking, and now he’s the breadwinner for his family. That alone deserves respect. We ordered a $5 plate to share between two people and were genuinely impressed — it exceeded our expectations. The flavors were solid, and the portion satisfying. To those who have left overly critical reviews, I feel it’s important to remember that taste is subjective. Some prefer their char kway teow moist, others drier — it’s all down to personal preference. We visited on a Saturday afternoon around 3:30pm. It wasn’t crowded, and the chef cooked quickly and with great focus. You can tell he takes pride in his work. Definitely worth a try — not just for the food, but to support someone who’s worked hard to get where he is today.

This CKT stall is helmed by a young hawker with special needs. I didn’t expect much from the taste but I was wrong. The CKT has a good balance of wok hei, umami and wetness. You can see the intense focus the young man frying the noodle while his mom adds the ingredients by his side. Support them if you are nearby.

Pretty solid plate for the price! It’s nice and wet — with a bit of wok hei that gives it that smoky kick. satisfying and worth the $4.

Something of a hidden gem for wet CKT lovers. While not the best in Singapore, the wet version sold here does hit the spot when you are in the mood for a decent plate of CKT. Been working in the area near this hawker centre for many years, so i had the chance to see the transformation by the young man in the stall. Be it whether he is special needs or not, his CKT has definitely gotten better in taste as compared to when i first tried it 8-9 years ago, and he was still learning the ropes from his father. Good job on persevering and carrying on the hawker spirit!

The CKT was cooked by a young hawker with special needs (as mentioned on a newspaper clipping at the stall). Ordered the $4 small plate — taste was average.
