This stall draws long queue of customers for their mutton soup. There is no physical queue but the lady boss keeps customers’ orders on an order sheet to the left of the stall. She will tell you how long your order will be ready when you ask her. Each order is individually prepared by the male boss who mans the stove. I came by the stall around 4.20pm and I got my bowl of mutton soup in 15 mins! I came by around lunch time and the queue was an hour long. A short while after getting my order, the stall closed for the day. I asked for a special order of mutton ribs and mixed parts (Meat, tripe and meat balls). It costs $10. Soup was herbal and tasty. I have had it as a takeaway before, and I think it’s best to dine in, as the soup will be piping hot. There were 2 dips: vinegary chili dip and a garlic vinegar dip. I liked both. The long queue is a testament to its quality. Recommended! 😋👍🏻👍🏻

Waited 45mins. Ordered the mutton soup $7 The mutton meats quite less although I know mutton is more expensive than chicken and pork. Soup is herbal but not strong enough for me.

Lao Wu Ji really power sia. The mutton they give is damn shiok. All meat one not like some other stalls that give you more bone than anything else. Here every piece is tender, soft and super worth it. The soup also solid. Herbal taste just nice, not too strong not too bland and it goes perfectly with the meat. One bowl really can warm your soul. But hor the only thing… the waiting time can really test your patience. Sometimes can wait up to 2 hours. Best is call and order first before you go down if not you wait there hungry until Sian. Overall confirm plus chop one of the best mutton soups around. Worth the wait if you plan properly. 👍

I've been a die-hard fan of the Chinese-style mutton soup at Bt Merah View for over 30 years. They recently won a Michelin recommendation and the queue has since made it difficult to access. So when someone said this stall is comparable, I decided to come try it for myself. As advised by other reviewers, I called to place an order at 10.30am and showed up at 12.15pm at the stall. Waited less than 10 mins before I got my food. Ordered mutton ribs and mixed mutton, with rice. Verdict: The mutton is stewed tender with right ratio of meat and fats, and the herbal soup is very well balanced in flavours between sweetness and spices. The rice is done well too. Slightly al dente and not mushy. They provide two types of chili sauce. Both are tangy and go very well with the mutton. Overall a worthy eat. I'd rate it among the top three in Singapore for this genre of mutton soup.

One of the best mutton soups I have had. It’s rich, full of that deep mutton umami, but without the gamey smell. It also has a nice, subtle herbal aftertaste that’s not too overpowering. I went for the all-mixed bowl, and both the meat and organs were really well done, tender and flavourful. It also comes with two types of chilli: one that’s more on the spicy side, and another that’s garlicky with a bit of tang. Both go really well with the soup and meat. The only downside is the wait. I went around 2:30pm (off-peak) and still had to wait close to 40 minutes. So I would highly recommend calling ahead to get a queue number. If you are short on time, this might not be the place for a quick meal, but if you can afford to wait, it’s absolutely worth it.
