May 2026 — I visited this historic site and was impressed by how thoughtfully it has been preserved and presented. The Singapore government has done a commendable job making the place engaging and informative, allowing visitors to better understand its past. One suggestion for improvement would be to include more video content, perhaps even short, movie-style reenactments. This would help visitors more vividly grasp what the POWs experienced and create a deeper, more immersive connection to the history.

View on GoogleA humbling, thought-provoking experience to recollect on the suffering and sacrifice of all who lived through that dark period in time. Brought my New Zealand friend and he was thoroughly impressed and touched. Worth the visit!
View on GoogleSolemn and moving, the impact of war, the deprivation and conditions that PoWs suffered, the resilience and spirit they showed, all are on display here.
View on GoogleSmall museum and chapel in quiet suburbia near the airport. We traveled by train and bus from Little India. A bus stop is conveniently located in front of museum. We booked in advance online a tour guide (a must). The tour went for an hour and our tour guide Karen was very professional and engaging throughout our time with her. The museum is laid out very well and has a lot of information and displays to see. Very educational information to read and watch. A sobering morning learning about the conditions of the POWs and civilians incarcerated during this time. Our guide also spoke about the prisoners order to leave Changi to go to work on the Burma Railway. There isn’t much to see outside of the museum - a few sign boards. There is a cafe on site (next to museum), serving lunch and also beers.
