The Nature Gallery on Pulau Ubin is a fantastic, educational pitstop that serves as the perfect introduction to the island's rich biodiversity. Housed within a beautifully restored, old-school kampong-style building near the jetty, this visitor pavilion offers a wealth of fascinating insights into the unique ecosystems, flora, and fauna that make the island so ecologically significant. The gallery features engaging, well-curated informational panels and detailed displays that highlight everything from the vibrant marine life at the Chek Jawa Wetlands to the diverse bird species fluttering through the secondary forests. It provides excellent context for your exploration, making your subsequent treks or bicycle rides through the island significantly more meaningful as you begin to recognize the native plants and wildlife around you. Educational Exhibits: Features clear, insightful mock-ups and text panels detailing Ubin's unique habitats, local history, and conservation initiatives. Great Starting Point: Conveniently located near the main village, making it an ideal first stop to pick up tips or learn about the terrain before heading out. Rest Stop: Provides a shaded, tranquil environment to take a quick breather, escape the afternoon sun, and appreciate traditional island architecture.
View on GoogleA small sheltered tourist hub next to the Jetty, with relatively clean public toilet stalls (Jun 2022). Has limited number of coin lockers. Great scaled map of the island. Usually see guided tours or school tours conducting briefing here. Has wild dogs in the area, likely belonging to islanders. Be careful not to agitate them!
View on GoogleJust in front of the jetty. Great as a meeting point, to hide from the rain/sun. Toilets just next to it, 4 cubicles (no shower) and a diaper change mat. Lockers outside the toilet are FOC to use - insert a coin to lock, coin can be retrieved when unlocked.
View on GoogleThe Nature Gallery is open to public, with public toilets attached. Spotted 2 actual hornbills (not sculptures but real ones) on the tree beside. A proof that the hornbill project is working!
