Cahaya Timur Biryani House is my go-to spot whenever I’m in Changi. The variety here is impressive, and what stands out is that everything is consistently good. From their western dishes to the Indian cuisine, every plate is well-prepared and full of flavor. The biryani is, of course, a highlight—fragrant, rich, and very satisfying. Their satay is also worth mentioning, nicely grilled and packed with taste. Even something as simple as the teh tarik is done right—smooth, creamy, and a perfect way to end the meal. Overall, it’s a reliable place with great food across the board, making it an easy choice whenever I’m in the area. Definitely a spot I keep coming back to.
View on GooglePretty good. Fluffy basmati rice, not greasy. Tender mutton. Sizeable portion. Intense flavour. Will come back if I’m in the east. My fav? Still Mr. Biryani at Chandler Road. The rice there is better—piping hot, fluffier, more fragrant. Mutton also more tender, if not as sizable as Cahaya’s. Cahaya’s mutton dum biryani costs about $10. Mr. Biryani, $15.
View on Google⭐⭐⭐⭐ I ordered the Seafood Fried Rice for dinner. The portion size was moderate and satisfying. The dish had a nice wok aroma that added great flavor, and the seafood toppings tasted fresh and well-prepared. The only downside was that it was a little under-seasoned and could have used a bit more salt. Overall, it was still an enjoyable meal with fresh ingredients and good quality. 😊🍤🍚
View on GoogleA friend brought us here to try the briyani. We ordered three mutton briyani and it was really good. The rice was full of flavour, while the mutton was done just right - almost like mutton mysore but without the heavy spices. There were bits of bones though, and we had to be careful in sifting these out. There is also a wide variety of drinks, including black spider (rootbeer float) and white spider (sprite with ice cream), as well as teh halia and lime juice. Service was super friendly and they also offered us a small dish of dates (used for breaking fast).
View on GoogleOrdered lambshank, shared with my wife... very tender the meat, rice is fluffy..though not warm. ( minus 1 star because the masala prawn wasn't great, the meat kinda dry n not warm/hot..but the masala taste is there... probably went wrong timing, I didn't get that fresh warm feel.. I will try again.)
