Awesome service, the star of the place, its people. Next their coffees. Had a flight and it was fantastic. Food wise, normal cafe fare, nothing to shout about. Not bad, just not spectacular. Atmosphere though, while still spacious and comfortable, some elements are quite dated and worn. Like their cushions at their out door sitting area. Over all, worth visiting.
View on GoogleFive Oars Coffee Roasters never fails to deliver an amazing brunch experience, but their Iberico Pork Benedict is truly on another level. The highlight for me was definitely the combination of flavors and textures—the sourdough base is a perfect match with the incredibly savory, tender Iberian pork. It is easily one of the best brunch dishes I've had in a long time! Paired with their excellent coffee and great atmosphere, it's the perfect spot for a weekend hangout. Will absolutely be back for this exact dish!
View on GoogleFive Oars Cafe, West Coast, Singapore (Siglap) # Five Oars Cafe Experience Review ## 1. Location & Accessibility - Five Oars Cafe is well-known on Singapore's west coast. - The journey took 45 minutes from the north of Singapore, based on a friend's recommendation. - Parking tip: Do not park in front (reserved for condo residents); use the HDB car park nearby. If missed, a U-turn is required, but parking is generally ample. ## 2. Ambience & Seating - The cafe features an open layout with a central service and coffee preparation area. - Ample takeaway options available, including soft drinks and wines. - Hostess initially seated the reviewer in a crowded area; upon request, they moved to a quieter section for conversation. - The atmosphere is lively but can be noisy during peak times. ## 3. Menu Highlights & Coffee Experience - Menu offers monthly specials and a wide variety, with a strong focus on coffee. - The reviewer tried the "Voyage of the Month" – El Tambor coffee from Guatemala (Chatuay Bourbon varietal, washed process), described as having notes of red plum, apple, and brown sugar. - Coffee flight presentation includes three cups; concern raised about cup size and temperature (cups cooled too quickly). Reviewer suggests drinking espresso immediately for best experience. - Flat white was preferred over the coffee of the month; reviewer recommends it. ## 4. Food & Pastry Assessment - Pastries available, including croissants and sweets. - Croissant was rated 6/10: looked fluffy inside but lacked desired flakiness and crust, possibly due to early baking time. - Friend ordered a salad with nuts and cauliflower; it was tasty and recommended. - Cajun chicken breast add-on was dry, as anticipated; reviewer suggests Singapore establishments often struggle with chicken breast preparation. ## 5. Staff Knowledge & Suggestions - Reviewer noted the staff's lack of knowledge about Cajun cuisine and suggested more training on menu items and origins. - Took time to educate the server about Cajun origins. ## 6. Overall Experience - Positive experience overall; suitable for a chat and casual brunch. - Coffee (especially flat white) and salad recommended. - Not a "wow" experience but pleasant and worth a visit. #gourmet #sgfoodporn #sgfoodstagram #coffeeshop #coffeebar #fiveoars
View on GoogleHits and misses. Decent coffee, got the 6oz white. Chilli crab scramble sourdough was pretty good, but the asparagus was super thin 😆 DIY breakfast wasn’t the best, husband didn’t like the flavourless scrambled egg and thick-cut bacon. It was quite hard to have a conversation over the sounds.
View on GoogleFive Oars at Siglap is one of my regular haunts for great coffee, desserts, and the occasional meal. Tucked away in a low-key building on Upper East Coast Road (formerly a foot massage spot!), this under-the-radar treasure surprises with its spacious industrial interior. The food and desserts are consistently excellent—from the indulgent chocolate tart to perfectly crispy barramundi. Great coffee, warm service, and relaxed vibes keep me coming back every time!
