This place is great! Came to Bedok Marketplace for the classic Friday night watering session after office hours. Love the guy with formal office wear taking our order, takes his job very seriously, well crafted sales pitch and impeccable customer service. Burning Oak stood out with their menu offerings, and we did not regret giving it our patronage. The beef from their combo bowl was a great cut, and while my partner and I usually find pork cheek to be too fatty, this shop chargrilled both of these almost to 'melt in your mouth' status. Had no idea you could do that! The chicken was very tasty as well. On the whole, the chargrill was done masterfully. The Truffle Chicken Bowl was great as well. I usually tend not to favor truffle in most dishes, because of how many establishments either put next to nothing (to save cost), or put too much, which covers up the flavors of the food item it is applied to completely. Not so with this establishment! The truffle flavor was applied tastefully, yet liberally. 10/10. The Charred Broccoli was great, liked the cheese and the crispy bits, though we would prefer if they were cut into smaller pieces. Maybe half the size. My Queen has a tiny pixie mouth. Understand why you don't usually do it this way, but thats the only miss here. Would be nice to have smaller pieces.
View on GoogleFoie Gras Pork Cheek : 8/10 rating Signature Beef Ribeye : 7.5/10 rating The Burning Oak is located at The Bedok Market Place. They start at 5:30pm. They specialised with Charcoal Grilled Rice Bowls. The Foie Gras also very nicely done. During weekends, waiting time will be longer. I will recommend you guys to try..
View on GoogleTwo major disappointments: 1. My aglio olio with salmon was basically drenched in oil and it was so so salty!! Salmon was dry and small for the price that I paid ($18). I rate it a 2/10 - can’t even get a simple dish right, i could cook better than this. 2. The stall did not allow for partial payment of CDC voucher, which doesn’t make sense, this is the first time i’m hearing about this.
View on GoogleHad the Wagyu beef and pork cheek at The Burning Oak and both were really enjoyable. The meats were the highlight, the wagyu was tender and nicely seared, while the pork cheek was especially good, super soft with that rich, fatty melt-in-your-mouth texture. For solid charcoal-grilled meats at a hawker centre level, pork cheek is one of the standout items because of how juicy and tender it is. The flavours are quite rich and indulgent, which makes it more of a “treat” kind of meal rather than something light or everyday. Portion-wise,still okay or may be a bit on the smaller side, but the quality of the meat makes it worth it. It’s not the cheapest hawker meal, but the taste definitely delivers. Overall, really satisfying meal with good execution on both dishes. Definitely worth trying if you’re into well-cooked beef and pork.
View on GoogleBurning oak, i have been eating here for years. What happened to your beef skewer? It was so good but today i think its not even seasoned and had a strong gamey smell. Foie gras was undercooked and required some microwaving before its palatable. Please do some QC. I really liked your food
