IKURA Japanese (East Village): A Relaxing Spot for Drinks (4.5/5 Stars) Rating Breakdown: • Service: 5/5 (Super friendly and accommodating staff) • Ambiance: 4.5/5 (Relaxing and inviting atmosphere) • Drinks: 4/5 (Reasonably priced and perfect for a hot day) Overall: 4.5/5 Donkey and I were at East Village, and after enjoying lunch, we were craving a cold beer. We decided to try out IKURA Japanese because of the inviting atmosphere. We walked in around 2:15 p.m., just as the restaurant was about to close for a break. The waiter was super friendly and helpful, letting us know they would close at 2:30 but were happy to let us stay for drinks until around 2:50 so the staff could get a chance to rest. We were very appreciative of their accommodating nature! The atmosphere is really nice and relaxing. The beers were reasonably priced. We got two Sapporo for $14, and they were perfect for a hot day. We're glad we checked out this restaurant. After reading the Google reviews, we see they have great food, too, so we're definitely planning to come back to try their dishes and update our review.

Salmon ikura don was tasty and so was the ehire. The yakitori was average. Stir fried clams came without much clams initially but the kitchen crew whipped up another bowl. The second bowl came with plump clams and was delicious. Appreciate the service recovery even though they didn’t have to. Impeccable service from the kind service staff who patiently accommodated our many food requests.

The atmosphere is really good. Feels like you are in japan but can be slightly pricey. The salmon don was decent and they are quite generous with their slices of salmon. The pork cha shu ramen was quite delicious as well and the broth was quite tasty.

I recently dined at Ikura in East Village and had the opportunity to try several dishes. Overall, the food was good, and I highly recommend visiting, especially on Wednesdays for their 1-for-1 Bara Chirashi Don promo. Here’s a breakdown of some of the food we tried: 1. **Steamed Clams**: The clams were fresh and well-cooked, served in a flavorful broth that had a perfect balance of spices and aromatics. The taste is more Singaporean than Japanese due to the spiciness and was also one of the last dishes to arrive. 2. **Bara Chirashi Don**: This dish was a highlight of the meal. The generous portion of fresh sashimi cubes mixed with tamago, cucumber, and ikura over a bed of sushi rice was both visually appealing and delicious. The 1-for-1 promotion on Wednesdays makes it an unbeatable deal. 3. **Grilled Prawns**: These were beautifully grilled, retaining a smoky, salty flavor while still being succulent and juicy. The seasoning was spot on, enhancing the natural sweetness of the prawns. 4. **Sashimi 9 Kinds**: The sashimi platter featured a variety of nine different types of fresh, high-quality fish and seafood. Each piece was expertly sliced and presented, showcasing the vibrant colors and textures of the sashimi. The selection offered a wonderful range of flavors, from the rich and buttery salmon to the delicate and sweet scallops. While the food quality was impressive, the only downside was the wait time. Despite the restaurant not being overly crowded, we had to wait at least 20 minutes for our food. This might be an issue during peak hours, so plan accordingly. Also we spent about $89 for food and drinks per person so definitely be prepared to bring your money if you want to feast on a variety. In conclusion, Ikura at East Village offers a wonderful dining experience with delicious food and great value, especially with the Bara Chirashi Don promotion. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait.
