Not sure if it was because the restaurant was very crowded and the chef was unable to cope with the orders… The Beauty Fish Pot was made with frozen fish and the slices were falling apart. The Kung Bao Brinjal was soaked in a pool of oil, very disappointing… The best dish would be the 猪肚汤 (Pig Stomach soup) and the refillable soymilk (which is unsweetened and taste homemade). Generous amount of Pig Stomach and Chicken thigh (with bone) and was sweetened with dates and longan. Quite salty but pairs well with rice. Cashier was very though despite being the only staff taking orders and cleaning up!
View on GoogleFish Tofu Pot had a rich soup, and you can taste the Chinese herbs in it. Fish meat was fresh with minimal to no fussy bones that you have to pick out. Yet, there's the occasional big chunks of the spine or an eyeball in there since they use the whole fish for their broths. They have single servings too which is great with decent quantity and you're not with your family. In a previous visits, La Zi Ji was actually really good with crispy and flavourful outer, yet surprisingly juicy meat. Usually we order LZJ more for the flavour and to satiate that fried craving, not expecting much from the usually dry meat. So this was a surprise! One of the better ones in the Bedok/Tanah vicinity. Mapo tofu was a good rice pairing for that salty and spicy kick to spice up the meal. Smaller note - tried the Chicken and pork intestine Pot before too, but after having the Fish Tofu Pot, i'd definitely recc the Fish Tofu instead. Clean and nice ambience.
