From the moment the aroma hits you, you would be hooked. Encik Tan’s Chicken Curry isn’t just a meal—it’s a fragrant, flavor-packed revelation. The curry itself is a masterclass in balance: rich, velvety, and layered with spices that sing in perfect harmony. Every spoonful is a celebration—warm, comforting, and impossible to resist. But the real genius? The tender cabbage, soaked in that golden curry broth, adds a sweet, earthy crunch that elevates every bite. It’s the unexpected hero, absorbing the sauce’s depth while keeping its freshness—a textural masterstroke. And let’s talk about the rice—served in just the right amount—each grain a tiny sponge for the curry’s soul. The result? A plate where every element shines, and every mouthful is a burst of pure satisfaction. And deep fried chicken in crispy golden form would be as good as famous fried chicken chains in Singapore. For CNY prosperity, to eat the Chicken Curry Set comes with following meanings: Cabbage: The Wealth Magnet In the world of CNY puns, cabbage is king. Because its name sounds exactly like "fortune," every bite is a literal investment in your bank account for the coming year. Fried Chicken: The Golden Bond More than just a crowd-pleaser, its golden-crisp skin mimics bars of bullion. Served whole, it ensures your family’s luck remains unbroken and "well-rounded" from start to finish. Curry: The Liquid Gold Bold, spicy, and shimmering with turmeric yellow, curry represents a flowing river of abundance. It’s the "Huat" factor in a bowl—bringing heat to your spirit and gold to your pockets.
View on GoogleI normally don't leave negative reviews, but after experiencing the same rude staff member twice, I feel other customers should be aware. The first incident happened when I ordered mee pok (dry). I clearly repeated several times that I didn't want vinegar or tomato sauce because I noticed the uncle wasn't responding while taking my order. Instead of acknowledging me, he became impatient and snapped, "Already noted down! No need to repeat so many times!" When my number was called, my mee pok was served with tomato sauce. When I politely pointed out the mistake, he refused to admit it and kept insisting that I never informed him. What made it even worse was that he loudly complained about me to the customers waiting behind me, repeatedly saying that I never told him. That was embarrassing and completely unprofessional. Unfortunately, I met the same uncle again today. I wanted to buy a large iced coffee, but I only had PayWave available. Instead of simply informing me that the PayWave machine was slow, he complained with an unhappy attitude and said that he would only start making my drink after my PayWave payment had fully gone through. I didn't argue because I had no cash and PayWave was my only payment option. I didn't argue because I wanted to avoid conflict, so I quietly stood aside and waited for my payment to go through. However, he continued complaining to the customers behind me, saying, "You have to wait because the lady in front insists on using PayWave. I already told her it takes a long time." He made it sound as though I was causing the delay, when I was simply using a payment method that the stall accepts. This was completely unnecessary. PayWave is a payment option offered by the stall. If the machine is faulty or slow, that is a business issue—not the customer's fault. Customers should never be blamed or publicly criticised for using an accepted payment method. What disappointed me most is that this wasn't a one-off incident. It is a repeated pattern of rude, impatient, and disrespectful behaviour towards customers. I will also be submitting a formal complaint to the management because no customer should be treated this way. Good food alone is not enough if customers are made to feel humiliated. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses this staff member's attitude before more customers have the same experience.
View on GoogleExpensive beyond words. Food is mediocre. But price is ridiculous. $6 Hokkien mee only 4 spoon of noodles. 2 prawn and 1 sotong. Popiah filling was cold. Curry rice portion was also very little. Never will come again.
View on GoogleEvery time I eat Encik Tan Fried Kway Teow, I’m greeted by that irresistible smoky wok hei aroma — sweet, savoury, and beautifully balanced. It’s closer to Penang-style, not overly sweet like some Singapore versions, and that makes it extra special to me. So thankful it’s conveniently located in air-conditioned Bedok malls — can enjoy comfort food without sweating in the heat! At just $5.50, it feels like such a warm, affordable hug in a plate. Lunchtime is super crowded and finding a table needs patience… but good food is always worth the wait. One bite and my heart (and tummy) is so happy! ❤️🍜✨
