I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chin Lee Restaurant for the very first time. I was there with a group of department heads and our boss from Hong Kong, making it a special and work-related occasion. Despite the busy nature of the gathering, the experience was truly enjoyable. The food was exceptional—delicious, flavorful, and well-presented—which made the meal even more satisfying. Since it was a professional lunch, I didn't focus on capturing elaborate photos of each dish; instead, I discreetly took a few quick shots of the dishes I was enjoying on my plate. These small, candid captures reflect the genuine enjoyment I experienced. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I left feeling quite pleased with both the food and the company. I definitely look forward to returning to Chin Lee Restaurant to explore more of their offerings.

Special thanks to Kelly who has been very attentive not just to us but to other tables as well despite the busy Mothers’ Day weekend! She’ll always smiling & very thoughtful with suggestions! Thank you! She’s a jewel among your staff. Having said that, all the staff are very good too & all to the management for their training! Food maintains the standards as we remember that kept us going back to Chin Lee! I

The food here is of really good quality, although the prices are on the higher side. It's a popular spot for families, and we saw many celebrating birthdays during our visit, which created a lively and cheerful atmosphere. If you prefer to dine in the air-conditioned seating area, it's highly recommended to make a reservation in advance. Overall, a great place for family gatherings and special occasions.

Came here with a friend who grew up in Bedok – he told me he's been eating at this Teochew restaurant since he was a little kid back in the 80s! That kind of nostalgia says a lot. We only had two people, so we kept it to a few dishes: the pig trotter jelly (猪脚冻), oyster omelette (蚝煎), chai poh kway teow (菜脯粿条), and traditional siew mai. Everything was authentic and packed with flavor – you can really taste the Teochew heritage. The kway teow was especially fragrant! The only minor thing is that the food is a tad oily, but honestly that's pretty standard for this style of cooking. What really stood out was the service – the entire crew was super friendly and welcoming. Will definitely come back with a bigger group to try more dishes!

If I could sum up this restaurant in one word it would be "underwhelming". My partner came here during the Lunar New Year period and told me how much she enjoyed the food. I usually trust her taste, plus a whole barrage of online articles from an assortment of big name local foodies raving about the authentic Teochew cuisine served here can't be wrong right? Sadly, this was not the case, I brought my parents here to try out this legacy brand eatery located under a HDB residential block also to celebrate my dad's birthday. The place was packed, we made a reservation a day before and were told the only slot left was at 7pm and it was an outside table only. Another clear sign that the food was well worth braving the crowds right? That all came to a grinding halt the moment i sank my teeth into the highly recommended Prawn Rolls, or locally called Hei Zou. Thank goodness the small portion only had four pieces as the briny aftertaste of prawn was so strong after I had the first mouthful, I had to wash it down with lime juice. The asparagus and scallop was up next and it definitely was not worth the price, being just average and nothing fancy. Another crowd fav was the coffee pork ribs which were not bad but again nothing special and for the price I could have double the portion at any respectable zichar stall and it would taste about the same. French beans in XO sauce, that was just average as well, I have had better ones at zichar stalls that cost a fraction. Cereal prawns again had that briny aftertaste which by this time my family were speculating was because the prawns were frozen, for me I had no idea but our regular zichar stall's prawns definitely never got this aftertaste so what gives? The cereal itself was fine, but again I could have gotten a better rendition at my usual haunt at half the price. Their signature Chye Poh Kuay Teow was next and I again I was let down, slight wok hei sure but it was bland, could barely taste any chye poh, this was so disappointing. Finally we ordered their orh need or yam paste a teochew dessert, again I could have had the same flair at probably 1/3 the price, I didn't like mine as there was a weird aftertaste as well which put me off after a spoonful. For those TLDR, save your money, go to your fav zichar stall. Their restaurant pricing but zichar level food does not do it for me and unfortunately I probably wont be coming back.
