Located within an industrial commercial cluster, on the ground floor of a commercial building. Simple menu items, neat clean dining area, its a good place for a quick bite or discussion. Since ordering is thru QR menu, there was hardly any interactions with their service crew ... we were left alone from start to end ... which maybe quite good if there is a serious discussion. I felt the service Staffs could have been more hospitable, greet customers with a happy smile ... and not just mumble the Korean welcome words .... let's see if this improves if I visit again. The food was above-average and reasonably priced. Car park is limited along the road, but there is a big multi-storey car park in the same building.
View on GoogleMonday dinner at Daebak Korean Restaurant. We ordered the crispy chives pancake, which was quite nice and enjoyable. However, the banchan was not to my liking, the kimchi lacked depth of flavour and the braised potatoes were not soft enough. On the plus side, the prices are affordable. That said, there was no complimentary roasted barley tea or even ice water provided.
View on GoogleDecided to write this review as my husband wants to support the restaurant in reply to the 1 star review made by L** on Mother's Day. Managed to get a table via Whatsapp reservation on Mother's Day itself for 2A1C. Very lucky! We are new to the neighbourhood and decided to check it out as I was craving for a hot bowl of Kimchi soup! The restaurant was very welcoming to my toddler and food was served promptly. Warm service, delicious food. A hidden gem! We were in the restaurant when the issue happened - a large group of youngsters came in around 6:30pm-ish and insist to wait for a table. The staff (who was never rude) informed the tables were reserved from 7pm. No one can serve such a large group within 30mins or less. My husband was just seated near the door during this commotion and found it ridiculous that the group is making a big fuss. Infact the girl of the group was the one being rude to the staff. We are not shaming anyone, we just want to share our view of what happened and hope people will not judge the restaurant based on a single-sided review. Support service workers. We will continue to patronize Daebak!
View on GoogleWe went for dinner on a Sunday evening around 7.30pm and we were able to get seats for 4. We ordered individual mains and sharing options. Tteokbokki (rice cake) is chewy and not very spicy. Chive pancake is tasty. Tofu chicken soup is normal. Side dishes not bad but ran out for refill. Kimchi was not spicy nor sour. Cucumber was spicy.
View on GoogleService is good. Place ambience is good. They have a toilet, and nice high ceilings. Scan to order for introverts. It is unfortunate that the food however, despite a 4.7 star eating and 500+ reviews as of my post, my group of 4 found the food so subpar. Paying $11 for ramen, but even instant cup noodle tastes so much better?? I would rather go and eat Shin ramyun. The kimchi pancake was nice and crispy when fresh but kind of sad that even after just 5 mins, it just tasted soggy and just like eating plain dough. The ginseng chicken wasn't extraordinary, just a normal chicken soup. The Jjajangmyeon was VERY BLAND. It is such a shame that instant jjajangmyeon tastes better. This one was quite watery. I feel like it's even more bland than hospital food. The tofu soup that is meant to be their signature? Honestly just tasted like asam pedas. I had such high hopes for this place but everything was subpar. The only thing that had flavour was the seaweed side dish and your average tteokbokki. Maybe my group is just a one-off unlucky experience, but we won't be coming back anytime soon. Would say this place is only slightly better than hawker and hospital food. Also sad that they do not sell naengmyeon or desserts like hotteok. You can come here if you really hate salt and have some health issues that you can only eat barely salted food. The place and ambience itself is very vibey though. I hope their food can improve.
