One of the best Ban Mian we’ve had. Right balance of sauce and noodle. Sauce is not too salty or sweet, just the right touch of flavour. Texture of noodle is spot on, not too chewy or too soft. The Kaya toast set is the next best item to order - crispy thin toast oozing with fragrant Kaya and butter, only $6.
View on GoogleTheir Teh C and Yuan Yang is good, the teea leave used are unique. Toast bread and Kaya has the grandma taste and toast bread done well. Mee hoon kueh soup and mee siam goreng all superb! The mee siam goreng bee hoon texture is tender, mixed with lime and chilli is good mix! The crew service is superb, friendly and their service & ordering is fast!
View on GoogleVisited this cafe at least 4 times last 3 months for their delicious toast bread with coffee!! Started with afternoon tea for 1st visit and returned to try their lunch menu; it was so good we came back a few more times with friends. Very fragrant kaya in generous portions, succulent ban mian w half boiled egg & tinge of spiciness .. yummy! Very friendly & efficient team at work even though it is always packed .. Definitely worth the visit (& extra calories lol). Highly recommended; we even visited their branch near Bugis Junction & it was awesome too!
View on GoogleCame to this place upon recommendations by a friend after some reels from some social media platform. To beat the queue we planned to go early, just before 9.00am but a queue was already spotted - around 10 groups of different sizes in front of me. As the dining area is small, the queue was approximately just over 30 minutes. The staff who was manning the queue no doubt displayed a very inviting and warm welcome - great customer service indeed. Upon seated, I went to order and make payment at the counter - queue to get a seat and then queue to order your food. I ordered the Dry Chilli Mee Hoon Kueh, while my friend had their signature Ah Ma Nasi Lemak. We also ordered the toast set for sharing. The dry chilli Mee Hoon kueh was delicious, and just the right amount of spiciness. However, the Nasi Lemak was a little more than disappointment. While the chicken was fried to crisp, the most important part of a good Nasi Lemak is the sambal - the sambal was lacking in the flavour. The toast was fine though, the same for the half-boiled eggs, well-timed. It took me an hour plus traveling time to try this place - to each its own, it would have been a great dining experience if not for the sambal. While I will not be back any time soon, I am open to try other food on the menu in future.
View on GoogleIf you’ve been following me, you’d know I had lamb chop at Skinny Cafe (super near here). This isn’t my first visit, and this time I went for their dry you mian at $5.80. Overall, it’s solid. The base was slightly on the salty side today, but not to the point where I felt the need to ask for a change. The noodles are springy with a nice bite, though the portion leans a bit small. Minced meat is soft and flavourful, but the real standout is the ikan bilis — super crispy and pairs insanely well with the noodles. Honestly, I could finish the whole bowl with just the ikan bilis. You can add more for $2, which I’m seriously considering next time. Regarding the environment, the aircon is just nice. They always like to play songs which commoner, like me, like. Now the staff are generally very helpful and manageably loud. Service is warm. Moments of truth: definitely worth trying if you’re in the area. If you like you mian generally, then I will recommend you to travel down. Easily one of the better bowls of noodles I’ve had. No cap.
