I remember enjoying this much more before the Michelin recognition, but it seems to have changed since then, which was quite disappointing. There's no denying they were generous with the sauce and crushed peanuts. However, the sauce lacked the depth I was expecting. The fermented shrimp and tamarind flavours—which, in my humble opinion, are the soul of this dish—were either too subtle or missing altogether. The result was a sauce that tasted mainly savoury or sweet, without much chilli heat or the bright tanginess that brings everything together. The deep-fried dough fritters and tofu were served generously, but the fruits and vegetables were rather limited in both quantity and variety. I initially thought it might have been an off day, but after two visits within the same week, the portions and overall quality were consistently the same. As expected, the service was purely transactional. Throughout the brief interaction, there was no eye contact from the person preparing the food, the assistant, or the cashier. While efficiency is appreciated, a little warmth would have made the experience feel more welcoming.

Taste is alright and i really like the crispy youtiao. The issue is the sauce too much and too sweet, told the lady taking orders so many times to reduce the amount of sauce but in the end still drenched in sauce. I think their business too good can't be bothered with my less sweet request.

Soon Heng Rojak is a Lengend. It is well known local rojak with long queues, but now has implemented a digital queue. Once you paid, a number will be given and you have to check their digital board for your upcoming number. Starting from $4.50 for a small, I ordered the $6 which still boosts their signature quality and quantity. It didn’t take long for me, it’s around a 10 mins wait. From my images uploaded you could see the crispy you tiao ( fried dough sticks) tau pok , cucumber, pineapple and turnip swimming in the fermented shrimp sauce, topped with peanuts galore. Every piece will be soaked with the sauce and coated with the crushed sugared peanuts bits. Do add in a century egg to enjoy the different texture of how rojak sauce and century egg tasted like. Do not miss this delicious value for money rojak which is hard to find in SG hawker culture. Highly recommended to eat at this food court or for take away parties!!!

March 2026 - Was here for a quick snack around noon on a weekday while waiting for our scheduled HDB Hub appointment. We ordered the Fried Fritter serving (SGD 4.50) with a Century Egg added (SGD 1.50). There were 4 individuals ahead of us in the queue. We made our payment in cash as the stall had a "cash only" payment policy, and issued with the receipt with our queue number for subsequent collection while our order was prepared. The Fried Fritter serving came with a generous amount of dough fritters, rojak prawn paste (hei ko) and a generous amount of crushed peanuts topping. Unfortunately the dough fritters were served cold, crisp and hard. The crushed peanuts topping was fresh. The rojak sauce was overly sweet in my opinion which overwhelmed the overall Umami of the prawn paste (hei ko).

The taste and flavour of the rojak is solid but it’s always way too sweet even if you ask them to cut down on the sweetness. The portions are generous and the queues are long most of the time. Some of my family enjoy their cured cuttlefish but I prefer the crunchy grilled version.
