This is a typical neighborhood coffee shop in Toa Payoh. While the food stalls here are good (the Ban Mian stall is a highlight), the physical space is long and the seating is small and cramped. It's not a comfortable place to linger, as there's no air conditioning and space is tight. It serves its purpose for a quick meal from a good stall, but nothing more.
View on GoogleNew 菜饭186 stall. Price is reasonable. Staff took my order for porridge wrongly, replace without extra charge and in good service manner. Food taste good. 3 dishes egg ladyfingers and tofu for $4. Generous portions. I will come here again. I forgot to take photo of my food until almost ate finished.
View on GoogleAt this coffee shop, you can expect a bustling and cramped environment during lunch hours on weekdays. The seating arrangements are rather squeezy, with tables placed closely together, making it a challenge to find seats during peak hours. Despite the packed atmosphere, the coffee shop offers a wide variety of cuisines, making it a great spot for groups with varying food preferences. If you're in the mood for Thai food, the pad thai is worth a try, with soft and wet noodles, although the peanut toppings could have been fresher. On one occasion, I ordered the dish and was disappointed to learn that they had run out of lemon/lime only after it was served. The rice dishes are also decent and come at an affordable price point. For a decently good and cheap option, the prawn noodle and fishball noodle are good choices. The ming jiang kueh is also a must-try, with soft and steaming hot pancakes that are delicious, especially with the peanut flavour. And at such an affordable price, it's hard to resist. The wanton mee is another popular choice, with springy noodles that aren't too mushy, and decent wanton and char siew. However, it is quite expensive compared to other options. The chicken rice is worth a mention too. It's not bad, a decent option that won't break the bank, although the price has recently increased. Overall, while the coffee shop may be crowded and the seating arrangement tight, the diverse range of cuisines and affordable prices make it a popular spot for lunch.
View on GoogleWent to try the kl wan ton noddles. The wanton and dumping are ok . Though if you like Malaysian style wan ton noodles or Malaysian who miss this dark sweet style, thumbs up. Superb taste . Char siew also Malaysia style , Dark caramelize and if lucky You get the slightly burn edges which are Extra crunch , a tad bitter but absolutely satisfying.
View on GoogleThis coffee shop has the most mix of nices food in TPY central. This portion of prawn Mee is decent for $4. Bean sprouts add texture to the dish. The sauce and soup is tasty. Would recommend to upside for more ingredients. Overall a good experience.
