Visited Watami Japanese Dining for dinner last night and ordered the tempura set. To my surprise, it came with a coriander side dish, which I had never encountered before with a tempura set. I pointed this out to the waiter and was referred to the manager. He kindly explained that the coriander was part of the set and that it was stated in the menu. It was actually my own mistake for not checking the menu carefully. What impressed me was that the manager continued to apologise politely, took the time to explain everything clearly, and even offered me a 10% discount despite it being my oversight. I truly appreciated his professionalism and thoughtful service. Thank you for the kind gesture — and next time, I will definitely read the menu more carefully before ordering my tempura 🍤

Had dinner at this restaurant on a Sunday evening. Restaurant was pretty full. Servers were moving around actively serving patrons. The order I had was Beef Rice Bowl with Hot Spring Egg. Its was okay but nothing to shout out. We ordered two types of sushi, but it took a long time before they were delivered to our table. Server was apologetic saying there was unusual many sushi orders that evening. Looking on as a layman, I felt the restaurant was very shorthanded both in the kitchen as well as serving area. Nevertheless, the food quality was decent.

My experience at Watami Japanese Dining in The Woodleigh Mall was truly wonderful and a fantastic choice for a casual Japanese meal. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it perfect for both a quick lunch and a relaxed dinner with friends or family. The service was also top-notch—the staff were attentive, friendly, and efficient, ensuring we never had to wait long for anything. What really stood out was the food variety and quality. They offer an extensive menu that goes beyond the usual, with something delicious for everyone. I highly recommend trying any of their set meals, which offer great value. Everything we ordered was prepared perfectly—fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. If you're looking for a comfortable, reliable spot for authentic and diverse Japanese cuisine at reasonable prices in the area, Watami at Woodleigh Mall is an absolute must-visit! We'll definitely be back soon.

Food was not good - for three pax we paid $68.95 (incl GST and SVC). 1. Chicken cutlet with scrambled egg - 1.8/10 Sauce was so salty and it costs $12.90. Recommend that the price be kept as such and just make this a main instead of a side and serve it with a bowl of rice. Too salty to not have rice…. Chicken itself was decent but the egg was too little. 2. Ramen - 0/10 - $13.90 or something Ramen broth didnt taste good and they added like pickled vegetable inside which is abit weird. Noodle used didnt take like fresh noodles, more like frozen ones that you get from those packet ramen. Chashu was abit smelly also and not flavourful. Ramen egg was fine. Portion abit small. 3. Extreme Tendon - $16.90 Had quite abit of toppings which was quit value for money. However, the ingredients were all heavily seasoned with sesame oil which made it taste like chinese food. The sauce itself also tasted like sesame oil. Of the toppings, pumpkin could be cut thicker and chicken breast could be seasoned more. 4. Grilled squid - $12.90 Tastes okay, quite soft but also salty….. 5. Mushroom skewer - $1.90 for 3 pcs Was okay Ramen was served first followed by the squid and mushroom. Then the tendon took quite long. After the ramen was finished. then the tendon was more than half done before the chicken was served …… Will not come back again. Left feeling super thirsty and not worth the money.

Ordered 2 pax set meal @$55++ Notice d wait staff r elderly, they smiled widely n gave a v warmth feel as they ushered us to our table. Yuzu soda is quite blend. Food is served fast 👍🏻 Diners happened to be v loud that night when we visited. I was hoping d wait staff cld hush them a little but no, they didn't.
