Had a wonderful time celebrating Father’s Day with my family at this outlet! Food was delicious and service was top notch. Thanks to staff Calvin who served us. He was very hospitable, attentive, and friendly! Also got complimentary desserts which we were surprised by🍨 thank you to all staff who served us too. Had a pleasant time and will be back again!

I’ve dined here twice, and both visits left me pining for more. Every dish was a flavourful delight that truly tantalised the tastebuds. My favourites — the kueh pai tee, assam pedas fish, and beef rendang — were absolutely delicious. Desserts proved just as memorable as the mains, striking the perfect balance of sweetness. Creative cocktails with names like Ho Miah and Ong Lai added a cheeky dose of Singaporean flair to the glass. Service was unfailingly attentive and warm, elevating the entire experience. The setting is elegant and classy, with graceful chandeliers and contemporary black-and-white accents that highlight the heritage charm of an old colonial building.

The overall experience felt slightly lacking here. Came here for a work dinner and we booked a room, we were staffed with a junior server who seemed unsure about a lot of things. Food wasn’t introduced and entrance/exits were quite noisy especially since the main dining room is bustling. Food itself is good. Room air conditioning is a bit too aggressive and when you open the outdoor doors, bugs come in, so it’s a bit of a trade off situation,

We needed a special Peranakan place for a farewell lunch. A very dear (visiting) friend who now lives abroad hankers after this local cuisine. Quite a tough task but Violet Oon @Dempsey was the final winning choice from a basket of Peranakan restaurant choices! Set amongst the old world charm of Dempsey, this restaurant did not disappoint. Accessibility, easiest by car. Given that our reservation was for a late-ish 1p+ lunch, parking was relatively available in the outer reaches of the numerous sprawling carparks. It was a delight stepping into the cool, well-appointed space escaping the mid day heat. Instantly, the breath became easier and a slower, peaceful pace prevailed in the lovely ambience. Lighting was soft and fixtures & fittings were tasteful. Beautiful foliage and plantings inside and out also helped set the stage well. We found both the food and beverage menus wonderfully extensive. Portions served were also reasonably generous. Of the 7 palates in the group, only 3 found the ‘heat factor’ ok; the rest felt it was a bit ‘testing’…despite 4 being Peranakan themselves. Generally, all the 10 main dishes had a good depth and were well balanced. The surprise was the heat factor in the much anticipated Nasi Ulam. Notwithstanding, all the meat dishes were tender and veges were perfectly cooked. Plating and presentation were aesthetically pleasing. Despite being relatively full and nearby tables seated large groups, the restaurant was pleasantly “quiet” due to effective acoustics~ a most welcome feature as conversation flowed easily and happily. Dessert followed soon after as none could resist the Peranakan sweet treats.. and the meal rounded out with coffee and tea. Not surprising after our long leisurely lunch, most of us struggled with “food coma” upon getting home! 🤭🤭 Last but not least, the staff were very attentive without being intrusive. I’m sorry I didn’t get the names of the two gentlemen who looked after us as we were busy catching up with one another. Thank you! Training was of a high standard and that shone through~ kudos to the standard set and adhered to. Compliments to the chefs and kitchen staff, too. Keep up the good work! Prices were a bit high; however would re-visit and also recommend this place 🤩🙌🏼

We had an amazing dinner experience here last evening. Everything was perfect. There were all my favourite Nonya dishes to name. And amongst them was the star of the show, the venerable Roti Jala with Banana Pengat for dessert. Seriously, never miss this dish or the dinner would be incomplete. Love this restaurant.
