During my visit to Rakuichi in Dempsey, a premium casual Japanese restaurant, I was particularly impressed with the quality and freshness of their aburi sushi and sashimi, which consistently received strong reviews. While the overall dining experience was enjoyable, I found that among the dishes we ordered, the sushi offerings offered the best value and most distinctive culinary experience, surpassing the meat-based options in terms of both flavor and execution. The restaurant’s focus on quality ingredients and meticulous preparation truly highlights its positioning as a refined yet approachable Japanese dining destination.

No need reservation, I do walk in, Saturday lunch hour. Bento set portion is good. Sushi can be better. Have different seating area with different vibe.

I have been to Rakuichi Dempsey for many times over the years. The Japanese food is what I call a family restaurant type as nowadays many Japanese restaurant offer fusion or omakase or “new age” style. I missed this kind of family restaurant style. Food quality is good and fresh. The varieties are good as well. Had Rakuichi Bento set and Kampachi collar for the night. Satisfied with the food and service.

Mediocre and overpriced food. Service was quite lacking with not even a smile to greet incoming guests 😕 The aburi prawns were 3 for $15 and the quality is not even good. Soft shell crab maki came after a long wait and the soft shell crabs were quite cold - which was strange. Beef cubes were kinda overcooked. Pork belly skewer was also dry. Will not return.
