Had a wonderful dinner with friends at Ippoh Tempura Bar by Ginza Ippoh. The service team was very attentive and explained every dish clearly, including the best way to enjoy each item. It was also a lovely experience watching Chef Ayame fry each piece of tempura with such skill and care. I appreciated learning that they use safflower oil for frying, which gives the tempura a lighter taste and makes it feel less oily. Safflower oil is also known to contain unsaturated fats, making the meal feel like a lighter and healthier choice. The batter was thinly coated, crisp, and delicate, just like the tempura style you would find in Japan. Overall, it was a very enjoyable and memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!
View on GoogleWas hosted here for lunch. We had the lower price menu and it was quite expensive for the meal and selection. Presentation is nice. The cold noodle is enjoyable.
View on GoogleReally enjoyed the dining experience here. The set menu was extremely worth it. Saw many reviews saying that they were unhappy that the tempura was served in batches but that’s because they chose to sit at the normal tables. If you prefer for your tempura to be served piece by piece, I recommend you sit at the counter tables. You can even see the chef frying each piece. Will definitely come back again!
View on GoogleThe tempura was decent, but not memorable enough to warrant a return visit. For $125 per set lunch, I expected much more. There are definitely better options out there for tempura at a far more reasonable price.
View on GoogleWe had the set dinner at $160 per person. It was completely overpriced. I could have had equivalent meals at other restaurant for $35 per person. There were 5 courses, and two of which featured the same type of prawns done the same way. Portions were small but enough to eat. I would have thought that at that price, there would be other premium tempura items for variety, but there was none. The tempura were the usual. Nothing to rave about. We were the only 2 diners at the restaurant on Thursday night. It is no wonder as it is unlikely to attract repeat customers.
