Service was friendly and helpful. Atmosphere was nice (nature / Dempsey) but it was warm (fans were not strong enough for that space where we were seated in between air conditioned area and outdoors). Food portions were generous but didn’t taste above average. Ordered all the ones that were popular in reviews. Prawn toast had too much sesame seeds which covered the taste of prawns. Rest of the dishes tasted average; wouldn’t go out of the way to visit for the food.

The menu offers a great selection of dishes, including thoughtful vegan options, which is always a plus. What really stands out is the creative fusion — Chinese cuisine blended with local favourites like satay and curry fish, alongside touches of Hong Kong-style dim sum. It’s a mix that feels both familiar and refreshing at the same time. The fried rice is an absolute highlight. You can really taste the wok hei, and the seasoning is spot on — flavourful without being overpowering. Simple dish done exceptionally well. Another must-order is the sautéed broccoli. It may look basic, but it’s executed perfectly — crunchy, vibrant, and cooked just right without being too soft. A great example of how technique makes all the difference. For starters, we especially loved the sesame cold noodle. The sauce is rich, fragrant, and incredibly satisfying — easily one of the best versions we’ve had. Service here deserves a special mention. The team is professional and attentive, and our server Maya was especially lovely — warm, welcoming, and made the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, a fantastic spot for a relaxed yet elevated meal. Definitely recommend, and we’ll be back again.

An Unforgettable Feast at Chopsuey Cafe, Dempsey Hill! Had a wonderful lunch at Chopsuey Cafe, and it certainly lived up to its reputation. Set amidst the lush greenery of Dempsey Hill, the restaurant offers a charming ambience that’s perfect for family gatherings, celebrations, or business lunches. Our feast featured an impressive spread, including the Aromatic Crispy Duck, Chicken & Pineapple Satay, Chopsuey Chopsuey (a vibrant stir-fried vegetable medley), Fresh Barramundi Broth, Kung Pao Chicken, and the fragrant Jade Fried Rice. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and packed with flavour. The Aromatic Crispy Duck was crispy on the outside yet tender and juicy inside, while the Chicken & Pineapple Satay offered a delightful balance of smoky, sweet, and savoury flavours. The Fresh Barramundi Broth was light, comforting, and refreshing, and the Jade Fried Rice was aromatic and complemented the dishes perfectly. The service was warm, attentive, and efficient, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a restaurant that combines excellent food, a relaxing atmosphere, and outstanding service, Chopsuey Cafe is definitely worth a visit. I’ll certainly be back to explore more of their menu.

Had a great dinner at Chop Suey with family, especially nice as we had my mother-in-law visiting. Food was solid across the board, but what really stood out was the service. Our main waiter, Sharvin, was excellent, attentive without being overbearing, quick to pick up on what we needed, and made the whole experience feel smooth and relaxed. Always appreciate places where the service genuinely elevates the meal. Would definitely come back.

What a brilliant evening at Chopsuey. Ambience in abundance & such a delightful setting in the atmospheric, striking black & white old barracks in a beautiful botanical setting. As a traveller to Singapore many times we have not yet been to Dempsey Hill & this is a restaurant we would gladly return to. The service from Maya,Umesh & Raphael was outstanding. On arrival seeing me in a sweat they had a fan placed at our table. Our phones were needing a charge & they came to the rescue. Incredible service! Outstanding food & a Beef Cheek Rendang that defies any other we’ve ever eaten ever . This is a magic spot ! Thanks for a wonderful & memorable evening team.
