A small island with temples and shrines And a turtle pond, many views of the SG mainland and quiet beaches great to escape the city life When I visited the food centre was under construction so bring your own food.
View on GoogleIt is dwarfed by its neighbours (Lazarus and St John's), but unlike them, there are shrines/temples and food options here, and there is some history too, so it makes it an interesting destination for a short stop in combination with the other islands on the same ferry line. It takes about 15-20 min to reach it from the Lazarus pier, which is longer than expected despite their proximity. The Tortoise Sanctuary was nothing to write home about. Nevertheless, worth a visit at least once given the proximity to the mainland and convenient ferry. While not really a tourist attraction, the solar panels installed over water are an interesting sight. It was not crowded on a Sunday.
View on GoogleKuzu Island is a great place to visit when you get tired of the bustle and big city excitement of Singapore. This is a small island but there is surprisingly a lot to see here including a Chinese Daoist temple dedicated to tortoises who according to legend, created this island to rescue trouble sailors. There is also a very unique hilltop shrine to some local Muslim saints in a very syncretic style. There is a turtle enclosure and several small but uncrowded beaches. There are a number of covered benches on the island but you will need to bring your own food or drink. You can easily spend a couple of hours on the island which the approximate wait time for the return ferry to Marina South Pier in mainland Singapore. Sailor Sinay says: You can also visit neighbouring Lazarus and St. John's islands but they are great deal more crowded. If you go swimming, there is a nice shower and clean restrooms on the island as well. All in all, remarkably well equipped for a small and relatively minor island.
View on GoogleKusu Island is a great escape from the hustle and bustle of Singapore. With its beautiful beaches - 2 lagoons (each walking distance, opposite of each other, go to the smaller one NOT facing Singapore, the water is cleaner and less shells), serene temples, and abundant wildlife, it's the perfect place to relax and recharge. Take a leisurely stroll along the coast, admire the vibrant marine life, or simply soak up the sun on the soft sand. Don't miss the iconic tortoise sanctuary, home to these gentle creatures. Whether you're seeking tranquility or adventure, Kusu Island has something for everyone. If you are coming with young children or is the pampered Singaporean. Come during the October pilgrimage month for shelter walkways, food court, stalls and hourly direct ferry. Suitable For families with children : The toilet here are much convenient, better and cleaner than St John's. The beaches (lagoons) are more calm with no rocks hazards Overnight at kusu Island is not allowed. You have to leave on the last ferry. Regular police petroling
View on GoogleIt's the annual Kusu pilgrimage season! Last visited was at least 7 years back. Due to the safe distancing measures in place, there is a limit of 500 visitors daily. It's great to see measures in place but also a sense of sadness to see the island so quiet.
