It’s been a while since I last came back to this place. Some things are still as good as I remember, especially the yakitori. My favourite is still the pork belly roll with enoki or asparagus — nicely grilled and full of flavour. The Japanese yam was also surprisingly delicious and definitely worth trying. The bean puff was just average. We also ordered the premium sashimi, which was a bit hit and miss. The cuts were generous and most of the sashimi was fresh, but the uni was a major disappointment. I was honestly surprised they would serve uni in that condition. It was very watery, mushy and lacking in flavour. Good uni should be creamy and soft, almost like a custard, with a fresh, clean ocean taste. This felt like it may have been frozen and thawed, or simply not handled properly. For a premium sashimi platter, I expected much better. Their sake prices were also noticeably higher compared to other Japanese restaurants. Overall, some of the food still maintains a good standard, especially the yakitori, but a few items seem to have dropped significantly in quality. With the prices they are charging now, I don’t feel the overall experience offers the same value as before. Good in parts, but at the current prices, unfortunately not quite worth it for me.

A cozy Japanese izakaya & overall it was a pretty satisfying experience 🍶✨ The highlight for me is their look simple - octopus 🐙 n seaweed fried rice — super flavorful & umami, the little chewy texture from the octopus, make it enjoyable. I also loved the grilled bacon skewers with asparagus & also enoki (golden mushrooms). Smoky, juicy, and well-seasoned 👍 Drinks-wise, gd selection— cocktails, sake & umeshu 🍸 A couple of improvements - cabbage with miso sauce that’s auto served at the start wasn’t really my thing, so I’d probably skip that next time. One of the grilled pork belly came out a bit hard/overcooked, and the grilled sweet potato 🍠 didn’t quite hit the mark either. However…Service was friendly and attentive — we noticed 2 staff handling indoor seating & 2 outside, they managed things well 😊 👏🏻 👏🏻 As a foodie, I think there’s still room for improvement in consistency, but overall it’s a spot I’d return to for the standout staff, dishes & drinks.

Had a really enjoyable nomikai with my colleagues at Shunjuu Izakaya! 🍻 The food tasted really authentic and reminded me of the izakayas in Japan. Everything we ordered was delicious and nicely prepared. The staff were really friendly and attentive as well.

I’ve eaten here a few times now, and I’ve enjoyed every visit. Their complimentary mentaiko macaroni is so good, and the service is always amazing and friendly. The food is consistently incredible, and everything I’ve tried has been worth coming back for. It’s become my go-to spot whenever I’m around Robertson Quay!

Shunjuu Izakaya. This izakaya is located in robertson quay. It may not look as a new place but surely it still retains some of its glory. The food quality was excellent. - Tebasake: this was best dish that we ordered. The chicken winglet and drumette were tender and perfectly charred with balanced saltiness. 4.9 star - Salmon sashimi: surprisingly this place has one of best salmon sashimi with thick cut and fresh. 4.9 star - Otoshi: I never knew that fresh cabbage could taste so nice and addictive. The miso dipping was the star here. 4.8 stars - Nankotsu: the chicken cartilage (young breastbone) was seasoned and grilled perfectly. It was tender but can still feel the crunch. 4.8 star - Enoki buta maki. The rolls were fresh and light but may be a little too plain for tasting. 4.5 stars - Gyu tan: this was excellent. The tongue was sliced thinly and grilled. Served with yellow mustard, this was one of the star dish. 4.9 stars - Mongo ika kaarage. This kaarage was a bit different as it was made from squid. The squid was fresh. 4.5 stars - Takumi daiginjo: this sake was excellent pair for izakaya (a bit on the sweet and fruity side) balancing the savory taste of the grilled dishes. 4.7 stars. The service was excellent and quick. All in all this place deserves a rating of 4.8/5.0 stars. Yes it still retains its glorious days
