Not sure why I tagged this place so around the area thus go and try for dinner. I would said this is a very decent zhi char place in town area with reasonable pricing. They are famous for their KHM. I would said is above average. Slight wok key and those who like dryer version would like it. Ingredients like sotong and prawns are fresh. Fried fish in soy sauce and radish is very nice. 4 season beans are well fried. My daughter finish the whole plate. Home made Ngor Hiang is well seasoned and fried perfectly also. Overall will come back and try other dishes next time.

Saw many good reviews about the Hokkien mee at this restaurant so decided to pop by. Flavour was alright but it’s too sticky & clumpy.. I prefer usual moist hkm but this one got kinda jelat halfway through. Couldn’t finish. Sotong was too soft also..

I visited Rainbow Rice House around 11:30am and ordered the big plate of fried prawn Hokkien noodles. I added extra ingredients and extra noodles, bringing the total to $10. There was no queue at that time, so ordering was quick and waiting time was reasonable. In terms of taste, the dish was decent but quite average. The portion was generous, especially with the add-ons, but the flavour did not really stand out. The wok hei was very mild and not as fragrant as expected for fried Hokkien mee. Overall, it tasted fine but lacked the depth and smokiness that many people associate with a really good plate of Hokkien noodles. While it is still a filling meal at a reasonable price, I personally felt it did not live up to the hype surrounding this stall. It may be an acceptable option if you are in the area and there is no queue, but based on this experience, it is not something I would go out of my way to return for.

Dined here based on good reviews but unless you like heaps of garlic I would give it a miss ... Pork belly came with as many pieces of fried garlic as the small pieces of deep-fried pork. Garlic also in the prawn roll and the seafood fried rice contained heaps of garlic also .... left a shocker of a taste for hours .... slow service initially but friendly and plenty of tables. Also really not that cheap compared to other options around ...

By the color alone, you know that this is a good plate of Hokkien Mee, the fragrance emits the perfect wok hei, the best possible moment where the noodles get that perfect wok hei fragrance, a few seconds more and it would get burnt. Out of the 100 items on their zichar menu, this is one food I religiously go back for, and yes, I verified with the owner yesterday to confirm that they indeed have 100 items on their zichar menu! Hokkien Mee is a rare find in a zichar stall, let alone one that cooks it perfectly; what's even better, they cook it plate by plate, ensuring consistency throughout. Rating: must eat on spot Hokkien Mee overshadowed by zi char Rainbow Rice House Address: 43 North Canal Rd, Singapore 059299 Open Monday to Saturday 9am-9pm #hokkienmee #sgfood #zichar #美食耳朵 #foodeats #teochewalex
