Have been dining at Jumbo for over 15 years, and this outlet never disappoints. The chili crab remains the gold standard in Singapore. I haven’t found a better one anywhere else. The crispy fried baby squid is another must-order. It is lightly sweet, wonderfully crunchy, and cooked to perfection. The mocha pork ribs hit the right balance too, not greasy, with just the right amount of sweetness and loads of flavour. We also tried the homemade beancurd, which was pleasant but nothing extraordinary. The seafood bacon roll with salad cream, which was tasty but might be a bit rich for some. That said, the classics are unbeatable. Highly recommended for locals and tourists alike!
View on GoogleJumbo Seafood has been a household name for years, and it still feels like a reliable choice, especially when hosting overseas guests. We came here for a team dinner and were given one of the private rooms, complete with a simple karaoke setup and a nicely decorated feature wall. With seafood, meat and vegetarian options on the menu, it made planning for a larger group easy. The highlight was, of course, the chilli crab, which was the first experience for some of our guests. The sauce had a good balance of slight ketchup sweetness and a gentle spicy kick, while the warm mantou had a thin, crisp crust that was perfect for soaking up every last bit of sauce. The salted egg prawns were another favourite, coated with just the right amount of salted egg without becoming too rich or jelak. The scallops wrapped in crispy yam rings were surprisingly enjoyable too, with creamy yam paste complementing the fresh, bouncy scallops. They looked a little less impressive than the menu photos, but tasted much better than they appeared. The Hong Kong-style steamed cod was silky soft and absorbed the savoury sauce beautifully, although the staff's warning about the portion size was spot on—it really only serves about two adults. The mocha pork ribs were just as good as I remembered from years ago. They start with a slight bittersweet note from the caramelised surface before giving way to a rich, buttery sweetness, while the meat stays tender throughout. The golden phoenix chicken was interesting—a fishcake topped with crispy roasted chicken skin and served on onion crackers. Creative, but at the end of the day it still tasted mostly like fishcake. The crispy baby squid rounded off the meal nicely, coated in sweet soy and butter before being fried to a light, addictive crunch. The Riverwalk outlet sits in a very convenient location. Clarke Quay MRT is the closest, but we walked over from Raffles Place along the Singapore River, which made for a pleasant start to the evening. Jumbo is still a solid choice for special occasions or for bringing overseas visitors to experience classic Chinese seafood with a local Singapore twist.
View on GoogleWe visited using the birthday promotion (S$200 off S$100), and even with the discount, the experience was only acceptable at best. The service was disappointing from the start. Although we had a reservation and some of my friends had already arrived and been seated, when I asked a staff member which room they were in, I was told to queue outside instead of being directed to my table. Throughout the meal, the call bell was largely ineffective and we often had to flag down staff directly whenever we needed assistance. Food service was also quite slow, with long gaps between dishes. The chilli crab was fresh and enjoyable, but most of the other dishes were fairly average. The prawn dishes felt under-portioned for the price, and even the desserts seemed less generous than what similarly priced seafood restaurants offer. Our seafood fried rice was served with four empty bowls for us to portion ourselves, which felt odd given the restaurant’s pricing and reputation. Overall, even with the birthday promotion, the value was only reasonable at best. Without the discount, I don’t think the food, portions, or service justify the price.
View on GoogleAlaskan crab got 50% discount so it was worth the try. We like it. Tried the chilli and steamed type and both are good. But what make the meal enjoyable was the excellent staff services in this restaurant outlet. Special shout out to Michael Jiang, restaurant manager who is cheerful,service-oriented and making sure we are comfortable dining. This is a place to visit to eat good crab.
View on GoogleWell, what can I say; absolutely brilliant. The food is divine, with a wide selection of seafood, as well as pork and beef, but the curry crab truly stands out and is an absolute must-try. The restaurant is set in a beautiful riverside location, conveniently next to an underground station, which adds to the overall experience. The service was professional, friendly, and warm, creating a lively atmosphere perfect for friends, laughter, and a fun evening out. I did find the wine a little pricey, with a markup of over 200%, but aside from that, it was a fantastic experience. I would highly recommend paying a visit and enjoying a memorable evening with friends.
