Yat Ka Yan never disappoints :) I’ve visited this place multiple times and it’s always such a reliable dessert spot! ❤️ The yammy chendol is hands down my fav dessert here - so rich & flavourful, with the orh nee paste complementing the chendol really well. I also really enjoyed the mango sago, which came with generous chunks of mangoes and was incredibly refreshing. On a separate occasion, I also tried the chrysanthemum osmanthus jelly, which was light and comforting. Ordered the ice jelly with passionfruit and soursop this time round, which I found a little more one dimensional. Their warm desserts, like the black sesame, walnut and almond paste, were also really good! They're smooth, fragrant and not watered down at all 😋 Be prepared to queue if you visit during weekends or peak timings, but the good thing is that the queue moves pretty fast. The cashiers are pretty efficient, and the service staff move around swiftly, so I didn’t have to wait too long for my dessert. They have 2 outlets (both in Bugis), and this Fortune Centre one occupies two units so there are more seats than ever now. It can get a little stuffy though, but that's more of a building ventilation issue.
View on GoogleTHE FOOD TRAVELLER REVIEW Always a queue, but it moves incredibly fast! They have a highly efficient system here—you place your order and are immediately assigned a table. It keeps the crowd moving smoothly. As for the desserts, they lean toward a lower sweetness level, which is great if you don't like overly sugary treats. I tried the Mango Sago; unfortunately, the mangoes were a bit on the sour side this time, and I would have preferred them sweeter to balance out the dish. That being said, Yat Ka Yan is still a fantastic, reliable spot for traditional Singaporean desserts if you are in the Fortune Centre/Bencoolen area.
View on GoogleNice sweet dessert to end the meal! Forget about high blood sugar for now — dessert is supposed to be sweet, not a health check-up appointment 😆. In Singapore’s terrible weather, cold desserts are basically a survival strategy before we all start melting. The chendol was good — the brown sugar syrup was fragrant and the jelly was soft. The cheng teng came with a generous amount of ingredients, so there was plenty to dig into. Not exactly a cheap dessert fix, but when the weather is trying to cook you alive, a cold bowl of sweetness does help cool things down 😂 PS: long queue but moves very quickly!
View on Google10 July 2026 // Tried the cold Cheng Tng today and wow, I loved it. It was generously filled with longans, which made every spoonful enjoyable. I even found a tiny slice of what I think was dried persimmon (I think) which was a pleasant surprise. It added a subtle sweetness and made the dessert feel even more special. 26 Jun 2026 // Back for the Durian Chendol and a repeat order of the Chrysanthemum Jelly with Osmanthus. The Durian Chendol was way too sweet for our liking. We later realised all the gula melaka had settled at the bottom, so perhaps we ate it the wrong way. We didn’t mix everything together because we wanted to enjoy the durian separately, but by the time we reached the bottom, it was an overwhelming hit of sweetness. The durian was also served at room temperature, whereas we were expecting it to be nicely chilled. This time, I had the Chrysanthemum Jelly with Osmanthus, and I really enjoyed it. The bits of sour plum added a lovely tangy contrast, making the dessert light, refreshing and pleasantly sour. It was definitely my favourite of the two. 22 May 2026 // Came back for the second time and still went for the same almond & barley beancurd. Husband tried the chendol this round and wowww, they were super generous with the gula Melaka! Sinful, but damn shiok! 8 May 2026 // Barley beancurd is usually my go-to hot or cold traditional dessert, but this was the first time I came across almond & barley beancurd, so I decided to give it a try. Glad I did because I absolutely loved it! It’s such a unique combination and not something you commonly find in traditional dessert shops. We also had the chrysanthemum jelly with osmanthus, which was really refreshing with every scoop. Definitely worth trying if you’re nearby, especially when there’s no queue. I came at 1pm and the queue was really long since they only open from 1pm. When I returned again at 2.17pm on the same day, some items were already sold out, which you could tell from the red tape covering parts of the menu items. The only downside is that they only accept cash and QR payments, so no credit cards accepted.
View on GoogleTo begin with, I am not a dessert person. Happened that we are at bugis and my wife wanted to eat dessert (yes, She is the dessert person!). So I Google search and chance upon Yat Ka Yan and seeing the promising rating, suggested to go for it. When we reached, we were shocked by the long queue. Cut the story short, though the queue is long, it is fast moving and we placed our order in less than 10 min. Point to note: you are not supposed to find your own seats. Simply go queue first and seats will be assigned to you based on the number of pax. The dessert were served very quickly and I must say their ingredients and fruits are so fresh. The dessert taste so refreshing and unlike those that use artificial syrup. I totally love it and I have never once did a review on dessert but this is just too good to keep quiet about it! I am not a dessert person but I will definitely return for this again!!
