I had the pleasure of visiting the museum and the synagogue today and found the experiance very enlightening and enjoyable. A big thank you to the security guard at the front gate who took the time and energy to deal with my situation. He was very kind and helpful. Toda raba !!! YOU HAVE TO MAKE A RESERVATION. Considering the current world climate for the Jewish people, this is not a surprise. Unfortunately security is an ever present consideration. I started my visit at the museum section. It is not a very large museum however it is full of informative exhibits and interesting graphics that showcase the history of the Jewish people in Singapore. It was very interesting to scan the QR codes by the pictures and get to hear some of the founders and important figures speaking in their own voices. There are some cool artifact type things to see as well. I then continued to the synagogue portion where i was very kindly invited to put on teffelin. I was very happy to do so seeing as how it has probably been many years since i last did. A kind gentleman walked me through everything and helped me recite the prayers. I was very thankful for his help. Kol Hakavod. The synagogue was beautifully decorated and much larger then i expected. If.you are interested in the Jewish peoples history in Singapore you should go and check this place out

Highly recommended to learn about the rich history of the Jewish community in Singapore. The museum provided an insight to many individuals, past and present that contributed and shaped Singapore to what it is today. Entry is free however, advance booking is required and there are security checks which are necessary, hope to visit again when the kosher mart is opened.

I told my friend that the Jews are very private people and generally don't want to mix with other communities. Their Waterloo place was designed to be uninviting and to keep people away. But we also believe that they always need to be vigilant in case of some unforeseen attacks. Hence I didn't expect much with regards to the 2026 red packets collection. I thought there was indeed a museum for us to visit. But actually we were just directed to go in, scanned a QR code to do a review and then collected the red packets. The guards were professional though and the one in the guard house even greeted us Happy New Year. But I wondered what was the purpose of this visit when we were not invited to enter. And how do we do a review if we could not visit the place? As expected, the feelings are correct. They are very private people and don't want to mix with other communities. Very uninviting. But probably all for security reasons. I didn't consider to take any photo too in case of being stopped by the security. It was around 4 pm Monday. The design of the red packet looks more like a japanese costume. I don't know how a Jew looks like. I think they are always wearing black with a tall hat and with beard for guys. For ladies they probably wear white and black.
