Read the comparison between Ya Kun and this place on how their soft boil eggs & kaya butter toast looks so similar and with matching quality & slightly lower cost. While I hadn't tried the French Toast at YK before, the ones here was mediocre at best. It's where cost is placed before quality because it was so apparent that the egg/s on it were not enough. The end result was one soggy piece of bread with a little egg flavor and almost without any aroma. I ended up soaking most of it into the Soft Boiled Eggs, however this concoction does not have the same effect as mixing SBE with kaya butter toast. 2nd visit: I much enjoyed the Kaya Butter Toast than the french toast. It would have been even better if the bread slice were thinner or the butter thicker-cut.
View on GoogleIf you love old-school vibes, traditional local drinks, and light bites, this place is a must-visit. The highlight is definitely the Beancurd Barley Dessert—it is incredibly smooth, comforting, and has just the right amount of sweetness. The cafe is retro, cozy, and perfect for a relaxing afternoon step back in time. I always feel a warm, friendly, and welcoming atmosphere whenever I visit.
View on GoogleAll the tourist are queuing at YaKun or Toast Box and they miss this place, as locals go in and quietly gatekeep this hidden gem. A must try is the soft boiled eggs paired with the dark soy sauce. The sauce is more sweet than salty, syrup like and definitely not diluted like the other places. The tea and coffee is awesome too. If you like garlic bread? This place does it very well too.
View on GoogleKaya toast set tasted average. There are other options in the same building offering similar fare such as Bao Er, Killiney and Ya Kun.
View on GoogleOld school coffee shop at Level 1 of Fortune Centre A pretty popular spot that stays busy and quite noisy most of the time. Tried their kopi C but found it rather bland, lacking the strong, full-bodied taste I usually prefer. Overall, just another regular kopi joint—nothing particularly special.
