Warm friendly service + good affordable curry chicken and fish soup!! 💯 Came here for the fish soup after seeing many good reviews raving how thick the fish slices, they indeed are and soup is good too (tastes like home)! More mindblown by their curry chicken, super flavourful without being too heavy! Visited during off-peak after 2pm and there's a lot of seating and short waiting time, will definitely come by again!
View on Google10 July 2026 - i came by on a Friday evening and the place was about 30-40% filled. there were only 2 staff, a cashier and a cook. the cashier was this friendly bespectacled lady, whom i believe might be the boss. i ordered their fish soup with mee sua ($6.30) and was pleasantly surprised when i saw that the fish slices came without the skin - just the way i like my fish slices! the batang used was incredibly fresh and chunky, and paired really well with the comforting peppery soup. it also came with generous amounts of vegetables. while the bowl was smaller than usual, it's filled to the brim and left me pretty satisfied. giving their service a 3/5 as it was rather slow; i waited for a good 20-25 mins even when the place was not crowded. also, the tables were dirty and had grains of rice + soup spills on them. overall, this is a fuss-free and cosy spot for really good fish soup, but i do think the dining environment could be improved.
View on GoogleI don't know about you but I think fish soup has to have a good balance of not tasting too "thick" or salty ('clean') but also have the depth it needs. Some fish soup tastes thin without the umami carrying it so it tastes lacking. But this one maintains the balance quite well. Plus aircon. Plus jazz music in the background. And retro interior. Plus good service from the counter lady!! They also add ginger slices which is largely unheard of plus tomato and the bittergourd which I dared to try, didn't bite me back with lots of bitterness haha Plus the fish slices are really thick which is good for a change when most of the fishes outside r TOO SKINNY I don't want to body shame but this is food and protein ok Area for improvement is definitely PLEASE GET MORE PEOPLE TO HELP DURING DINNER SERVICE. i think they're short on people (2 in the kitchen) which was why the queue was static for I think a good 20 mins. The wait to get my food was 45mins-1 hr. But it was worth the wait. Pls don't change your soup or anything. This meal was perfect and I'll probably miss this when I leave SG. But also maybe the mince meat can mince a bit more. Humbly and gratefully, satisfied eater 7.50 in total - 5.50 for batang original, topup 0.5 for veg and 1.5 for mince meat I believe
View on GoogleJust reopened after a short hiatus Went near 1130 opening time and there was a queue Strangely there have pre order option, but you join the same queue as those who appear like me The menu is simple but of course most go for the fish soup. Wanted the seafood soup but was not available when I was there. This ordered the fish soup and the chicken curry The fish slices were huge, too huge for the small bowl actually. Added bitter gould n minced meat and the bowl seems can overflow. Visually it was a bowl of “goodness” The soup was tasty as it had “ti po”, I kind of small salty fish. While it was welcoming to have more ingredients, the bowl was very full and one had to careful to start eating The curry looks good visually, but taste wise, it’s quite ordinary But still a good choice for variety
View on GoogleComfort food with a taste of home! The batang fish was thick and fresh, and i liked the soup that comes with veg (minced meat was a good add on as well). The curry was also enjoyable, not too spicy so making it a great option even for those who can't handle spice. Definitely a spot worth visiting when you're at Bugis area looking for a quick fix.
