Beef hor fun is actually pretty good in terms of taste and wok hei. Would prefer if the noodles were softer. I don't like the kaya butter toast as the kaya has an uncommon taste. Soft boiled eggs are large, kopi is decent. Shop is a bit difficult to navigate as the tables are very close.
View on GoogleI’m amazed by their signature Hokkien Mee! The rich wok-hei flavor easily earns a 5-star rating 🤩 Also tried their famous kaya toast, and it was absolutely delicious. I like their chilli too!! Would definitely come here for their food again~
View on GoogleKOPI CHAMPION Bao Er’s Fortune Centre outlet delivers a mixed but memorable experience. Visiting on a Saturday afternoon, I was pleasantly surprised that the café was not crowded, and we were seated almost immediately. The star of the meal was the hor fun, beautifully kissed by wok hei, with a deep charred aroma that lingered pleasantly. The luncheon meat fried rice, however, lacked character and fell below expectations. A surprising standout was the kopi—rich, robust and genuinely shiok, —arguably the best coffee I’ve had in a small, humble café setting. The compact space is charming enough, though inadequate ventilation leaves diners carrying a smoky reminder of their visit.
View on GoogleBeen here twice in June. The prawn mee standard is the same as Balestier outlet- ordinary. The stock may be good, but the noodle lacks skill and experience to bring out the wok hei plus texture. The Balestier outlet’s taste is actually worse than the Fortune centre outlet because of inconsistency in cooking (range from ordinary to rancid oily tasting). The only consistently good hits here are the Kaya toast and black tea. When done by the right staff (shout out to Jessie), the Kaya toast is in a league of its own. Crispily toasted inside and out and slathered generously with Kaya. There is an option for Kaya add on. Again, the experience of this world Kaya toast depends on who is making it. To my knowledge, Jess is the only regular staff at the cafe who is passionate about making good tea and toast. I’ve had my order made by a non local staff and the toast was soggy and the butter less kaya toast had scanty Kaya spread. Atmosphere is eat and go. Peak hour crowds exist here. Off peak challenge is finding a clean table as not everyone returns their plate to the tray return station. It can also get smoky when they start rendering the fat from their pork lard to make lardons. But come for Kaya toast and black tea.
View on GoogleI truly enjoyed the food here! 😋 The prawn mee was absolutely delicious, and the kaya toast was outstanding. The service was quite good as well. The atmosphere was alright, nothing particularly special or bad. The kopi was just okay. ☕ Definitely worth a visit for the food!
