Situated right next to the bustling Bugis Street and the famous Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple, Albert Centre is a must-explore hawker complex. Chwee Kueh are little steamed rice cakes, light and smooth with preserved radish) on top. It makes it salty, sweet, and bursting with umami. Adding a bit of the sambal chili gives it a slow-burn kick that makes it addictive. Kueh Pie Tee is a delightful Peranakan snack. The pastry shells are perfectly crisp, holding a juicy filling of shredded turnip. It’s a wonderful contrast of textures in a single bite, crunchy on the outside and savory-sweet on the inside. Bak Chor Mee is Minced Meat Noodles. This bowl has a fantastic balance of vinegar and chili. The noodles are cooked al dente, and the variety of textures, from the soft minced meat to the earthy liver and savory braised mushrooms, make every bite interesting. Hainanese Chicken Rice is my favorite. The chicken is incredibly silky and tender, paired with rice that is fragrant and perfectly oily without being greasy. The side of bok choy adds a nice crunch to the meal😍

Looking for a spot to feast on local delights? Check out Albert Centre Market & Food Centre, a long-standing hawker gem in the heart of Bugis. Despite being surrounded by cultural landmarks and a short walk from Bugis MRT, Albert Centre remains a low-key, no-frills stop for both locals and tourists alike👍👍👏👏💪💪 Highly recommend zi char (hawker-style stir-fry) dishes from 85 Xiao Chao (#01-85) plus Fried Beansprout with Cockles from Soon Lee Fried Kway Teow Mee (#01-86)👍👍👏👏😋😋 ▪︎Bean Sauce Bitter Gourd Fish Head, Pork Rib King, Shrimp Omelette and Baby Kailan in Oyster Sauce are well-executed. Each dish, served steaming hot, is delicious, generous portion and comforting😋😋 ▪︎Also, we enjoy the juicy crunch of fried beansprouts with the briny sweetness of blood cockles. Infused with garlic, shallots and lard for rich wok flavor, this dish presents interesting textures. So yummy that we have a second helping😋😋 *Both stallholders are OMO the entire time we're there; longer wait time is inevitable; especially during peak hours.

A very authentic local hawker centre right in the heart of Bugis. Plenty of food choices at affordable prices, from fishball noodles to yong tau foo and traditional desserts. What I like most is the old-school atmosphere — not fancy, but full of character and local flavour. Some stalls have long queues, which is usually a good sign.😋 It can get crowded during peak hours, people & birds 🤭 but overall a great place to enjoy real Singapore food. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area. Hope they put no entry to bird with nets charge.🤭

Pro tip: come during lunch time and see where the locals and office workers line up. They know where the good food is at! INCREDIBLE Chwee Kueh. The store is named 水糕 if I remember correctly and it's all they sell. Super melt in your mouth, and you order how many pieces you want (minimum is 2). Super affordable as well. Popiah next stall over was not bad too. Third is a pictured local favorite dessert stall. It almost always has a line and only sells 4 dessert items. I got the Tau Suan (it's hot) and it was nutty, soup was silky, and not too sweet. Would HIGHLY recommend getting a dessert soup here! All the stalls pictured after are on my bucket list as each had long lines during the lunch rush 👀 Would definitely come back the next time I visit Singapore!

My first visit back to Albert Food Centre since the renovation and it looks impressive! It's bright, airy, and much more comfortable thanks to the improved ventilation. I tried the Signature Noodle & Soup ($6.90), and the Soon Kueh ($1.40 for 2) today. Overall, there’s a fantastic range of food available at this food centre so come and try it out!
