1) Happened to dropby Jalan Besar and I wanted a quick bite along the street. I was attracted by the nice interior. 2) As I'm alone, I only ordered 2 of their popular items. The prawn dumplings were juicy, appealing & bouncy! The prawn cheong fan were equally tasty. Cheong fan wrapped around each prawn (total 6) and was easy to eat. The crispy fried onion were crunchy. The chilli was a nice twist compared to those usual chilli oil. 3) Also added on the mango pomelo sago dessert. Sweet mango puree with sourish jelly. It's as tasty as its look! Happy belly happy me! 4) Staff was very attentive and friendly.
View on GoogleThe place is quite comfortable even though there are many people.. the owner is very friendly and very helpful well it was crowded with visitors at the time we came, but still served even though it took a little longer. the taste of the food is quite delicious for dimsum in general, the price is a little more expensive than the usual ones,, this restaurant is legend, easy to reach on the jalan besar.
View on GoogleHad a pleasant experience at Sum Dim Sum. The restaurant was clean and comfortable, creating a nice atmosphere for a casual meal. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive, making us feel well taken care of from the moment we arrived until we left. The food was served reasonably quickly, and there was a good variety of dim sum to choose from. The taste was enjoyable, although the flavours were quite standard and didn't particularly stand out. One thing I really appreciated was the portion sizes, which seemed more generous than at many other dim sum restaurants. It definitely felt like good value for the price and left us feeling satisfied. While the food may not be the most memorable, the combination of generous portions, warm service, and a comfortable dining environment made for an enjoyable overall experience. I would be happy to return when I'm in the area 🌟
View on GoogleFirst time visit with a friend. We find the food a bit bland - liu sha bao was only warm and not hot (but thankful the filling did flow!) Siew Mai and lotus leaf glutinous rice were nice. Char siew bao so so - can be more juicy for the fillings. The mango pomelo sago was creamy and yummy! Egg tarts did not impressed us as the crust were too thick - but I was wow by how it came out on a ‘nest’ setting!🤣 The best of the best was their fried rice! Done right and perfect- non oily and grain by grain👍🏻 Chilli sauce was good. Service was prompt. Overall we felt the innovative and variety of dishes are there, but there is definitely improvement in terms of flavor.
View on GoogleHad lunch on weekend. Ordered 2 of their signature items (by the names in the menu) - Pandan crispy bun ($6.9++) and hot & spicy dumpling ($5.9++). The crust of the char siew bun is crispy with a hint of pandan taste, however, it does not quite match with the sweet char siew filling. The dumpling filling is pork (without prawn), it’s average. We also had the moonlight hor fun ($13.9++), this is the best dish out of the 3. Overall, the food is ok, may come back to try their steamed dim sum.
